Much harder than DAW, not very portable, but still usable
Max Tau, 18.03.2019
Bought the AKAI MPC Live to create beats on long trips and while travelling. The device is too big and heavy for that ? Novation Circuit or TE OP-1 would work better.

The touch screen is rather unresponsive and hard to handle. Takes some menu-digging for some basic functions, but you get used to it.

The best way tu use it is to rely heavily on the Q-link knobs and the big rotary knob. These work really well.

The pads are great, easy to play. They do collect dirt and dust, though.

The software really takes time to get into and practice.

Overall: with time, I realized It was much more convenient to grab a laptop and a NI Maschine, than to carry around the AKAI. Same weight, longer battery life, way more flexibility.

amazing standalone sampler and composition tool
foamOfTheDaze, 22.09.2019
If you want to make music based on samples, or add samples layers to your music, with mac live you'll have a complete song in less than 30min. great creative tool, and the standalone features, flexibility and high quality sounds separate it from other samplers/controllers.
