Excellent quality Keyboard for Home and Pro studios.

I use it with Logic X and have no issues with that.

Keys are weighted and solid, very good feel for playing. Drum pads are excellent sensitivity, coloured, just perfect to make beats. Knobs and faders are not cheap made, feels perfect and enough to control synths, plugins etc.

As for me it has everything to control your DAW.

You do not need to spent much money fo buying extra controllers. MPK249 does everything. Just study your DAW, and make good stuff

Excellent price, worth of single cent.

Yes, I am obsolutely have the right dream for MPK 249.
puasakamis, 14.08.2021
For a months, I'm in my dream to own the Akai Professional MPK 249 for my home studio, and stare on it - thinking about the quality and price, until I made my order from Thomann and came with their sturdy handling. Yes, I'm absolutely have the right dream for it, and Thomann shipped it to me with a free Ableton Live Lite CD and including the Serial Number - with which I was used it for the Ableton Live 10 Lite now.

I'm using three meter USB cable which I was bought from our place computer shop here - since this AKAI model just provide me one meter USB cable only, for the cons. But, still yes, I was have no problems to play the 'Grand Piano' and others available keyboards sounds with it shine beautiful build keys, or to play the '606 Core Kit' Drums Hits with it RGB lighting 16 MPC pads for an examples.

After all, I was very very much appreciate with the LCD Screen display to view this MPK 249 menus, options, parameters, and setting - even the Control Bank on the middle, Assignable Knobs and Faders on the right, and also with the DAW Control at the left. This USB/MIDI Pad and Keyboard Performance Controller also may come to you with it compact function for all your music recreation need - that it, for the pros.

All in one solution for producers/composers
maroon4ik, 27.11.2019
Awesome controller! Now I have a possibility to manage my VST libraries in a completely different way. The approach to writing music has become different. If I need to make a beat, I use the MPC style drum pads and preset customized for my plugins. The strings and synths have never sounded so realistic as now. Thanks to the faders and encoders, now I have the opportunity to manage all the parameters of my libraries and use the full 100% potential of my virtual instruments. There is a problem with the sustain pedal. The polarity on the controller is not adjusted and in order not to buy a new pedal, I had to reset the input of the expression pedal to work as a sustain pedal. So I think that this is a great purchase. Thank you Thomann for your good service and delivery. Looking forward to make my next purchase from your store.

Powerful quality Keyboard controller
Sonic Sabotage, 23.03.2018
I use the MPK 249 xfor electronic music production, mainly on PC to control VSTs but also with external gear (Korg mini synth) or to control the automation inside the DAW (with faders and rotary knobs). I am generally very happy with the product, because:
+ Design is one of the most compact, I really like the form factor with pitch and mod wheel on top
+ Lot of control. With or without Akai VIP you can modify your soft synth parameters in real time with faders and knobs
+ presets work well on Cubase, Reason, Ableton (all 3 were tested). Further presets for all main daws (Logic, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Bitwig, Studio 1) are present, I did not test them personally...
+ Nice synth action keys, high quality
+ materials. It is almost all plastic (like 99% Keyboard controllers) except a heavy steel base but it is high quality and well built: no unwanted play, no noise, squeak whatsoever
+ bundled software
+ MIDI output (if you have also some old hardware around). If not connected to USB it needs however a PSU, which is not included
+ USB powered, no PSU needed with USB cable
+ Pads are usable (nice rubber material with LED lights),
- Quite pricey, but it is well built and has a lot of features
