A great keytar, but not sure about durability
Ashesborn 29.08.2021
It is a nice-looking piece of gear, which comes in very handy when you don't want to be stuck behind a regular midi keyboard (although this can very well double as one).

Unfortunately, I had to have my first one replaced, because after about half a year of infrequent use, it stopped connecting wirelessly. It's been 8 months, and so far, I haven't had any issues with the second unit.

The keytar is fairly light and therefore easy to carry around for extended periods of time (Batteries last forever, too.), but I feel if you were to drop it, even from a relatively small height, it would immediately smash into pieces because it has a bit of that loose plasticky feel to it.

Bad but still bought two
Tamtamtam 19.07.2021
Like a lot of other people have reported on forums around the internet, I have had problems with hanging notes with this midi controller, as well as the pitch wheel not returning to zero when released. Using it wireless, with midi cable or over midi via usb all result in the same results. Unfortunatly Alesis seems to be aware of the problem, they tried to fix it in a firmware update but it hasnt helped it seems. But you can make one of the pads a panic button in case notes do hang.

None of the buttons on the neck are freely midi assignable which is a shame, would have prefered that than to have the keyboard split buttons.

The keys and pads feel good, the sliders ok, and the plastic housing is sturdy. The accelerometer CC works alright. The design is annoying in that it is very hard to find a way to place it in a guitar stand or lean it next to a wall, since it has the outputs on the short side.

I don't love this product but I actually bought two anyway, one for backup, because they are inexpensive and as far as I know it is the only keytar midi controller on the market.

Almost perfect for performance & practice
Tairu 30.12.2019
A very well made keyboard with a great number of features such as MIDI-assignable accelerometer. Looks really stylish as well. Too bad it's not a full-fledged synth, but on the other hand, it's never going to lose its relevance this way.

Great controller

I use this in my gigs now to emulate a guitar. It's a great controller and easy to use.
