Been putting off reviewing this until I've had it a decent amount of time so that I could give it a fair review. I've had it for close to a year now, and my opinion has not changed.

The amp lives up to it's name, in that it is extremely portable. It's small enough that I can carry it around in a laptop bag and on top of this only weighs a few kgs.

I haven't opened it up to have a look inside, and even if I did I'd be none the wiser on build quality, but it seems to be built like a tank, and it's been working away without issue since I've had it.

The built in limiter is a godsend, because I tend to push this thing HARD, so it's nice to know that the amp can protect itself. I've so far only had the light flash once or twice, but it's an excellent way to know how far you can go. Beats a repair bill any way you look at it.

Now most importantly, the sound. I can only say it's wonderful. The 3-band EQ is fine for my needs, and honestly, I've come to find other amps a pain to fiddle with, because this thing just works so well. The gain knob can really add some grit to your sound if required, and as far as I can tell you can get a great range of sounds out of this. You just need to experiement to find your favourite tone, but it will sound objectively good on pretty much any setting.

In terms of genres, I feel this will suit everything. It's definitely got a fantastic range of rock tones, but it does reggae and jazz no bother. If you're looking for a vintage amp though, this is not it. It sounds very modern. You may love this or hate it, personally I love it.

I run this through a Warwick cab (WCA 410, 400 watts at 4ohms. A real pity that this has been discontinued on Thomann, because I can assure you it's a fantastic cab, brilliant value) and it's a briliant match for this amp. This rig has been used by various bands as well as myself in the year I've had it, and it's recieved nothing but compliments. It's been powerful enough to play varied venues from small pubs, to large halls, to outdoor stages all by itself, no PA support, though the balanced line out is a really great feature that I'm sure will come in handy.

Anyone doubting the power of 350 watts can put those thoughts to rest imo, because unless you're intending on playing stoner/doom stuff with a guitarist running three 100 watt all-valve stacks, this should be plenty. Worth every cent.

Pros - quality design, good sound and lightweight
cons - there is no possibility to link it to another amplifier, so if you need to boost your sound for a larger playing gig you can't use another amp at the same time.

Ampeg PF-350

from the first time I set eyes on this amp my heart was all a flutter, and started to check the boxes straight away, one it's small and nimble, two it's an Ampeg, the cab again is quite small and beautifully designed with that retro 50's style that I love another box ticked. The sound however is beyond expectation, I didn't get a chance to practice with with before I had to gig with, so I was a little worried, I needn't have been. beautiful bottom end and really sweet mid tones, I use both a double bass and a musicman stingray, both sounded superb, this is without doubt the best investment I have ever made in a bass amp, Ampeg designers stand up and take a bow you deserve it this amp is simply superb.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!

These amplifiers are over-priced and unreliable chinese dirt. I have owned two of them and both have melted after 3 months. The second time it also melted the speakers inside the 2 x 10 box, but I didn't find that out till the repaired amp returned. Then of course the people at Thomann wouldn't believe my story, and refused to co-operate any further. The entire fiasco left me without an amp for months and I had to foot the bill to repair my speakers as both Thomann and Ampeg refused. Avoid this crap. Buy GK or MarkBass instead. I have ceased dealing with Thomann and I am DELIGHTED to report that Ampeg have had to be bailed out by Yamaha. Hopefully they will soon be bankrupt.
