Bravo Korg for doing the Odyssey right
Empathic Metamorph, 17.06.2020
I used to own an Arp Odyssey from the 1970s. A Rev 2 with a 4035 filter and the pitch knob instead of the PPC pads. I loved the sound and it suited my music perfectly. Now with the Korg reissue I feel like I have my old baby back once again. This new one sounds just a little bit cleaner than I remember the old one sounding, but it's just as warm and powerful. Dialing in some patches from memory was like visiting an old friend.

I opted for the module over the keyboard version because it's a great way to save studio space and it's sized as such that I might even consider taking it out for live performances.

For now I just plan to use it to record in my studio. The Odyssey excels at most types of sounds you might need from an analog synth. It can go from very calm, pretty, and musical to extreme insanity with just a few nudges of the sliders. Bass, lead, pads, efx, pulses, etc... They are all here and sound very distinctly Arp. The control panel begs for experimentation and I can lose hours just playing around with it in that way.

I love the build quality of this reissue. It feels just right and very near to the old one. The sliders have a smooth and sturdy feel. The chassis feels strong. It's not too heavy or too light. The feet on my unit have a little bit of wobble, but I'm not complaining because so many other synth feet are just like that as well.

I plan on buying another Odyssey Module in the near future to compliment this one. I will definitely get it here at Thomann. The service, value, and order turn-around they offer are the best I have ever experienced.

WOW
Vangelis, 22.05.2017
This is just an amazing piece of gear. Tons of modulation routings, characteristic Arp sound and 3 awesome filters to choose from. I chose the desktop version cos it sits nicely on my desk and the keyboard version was not for me. Keys are small and the normal version is quite expensive. Im very happy with this buy

crazy modulation machine
bitopfer, 10.08.2020
I was looking for raw and definitve sound of APR synths, which this module has totally provided. It is well suited for basses, leads and drones. Odyssey has lots of modulation options. Note that the control is fully manual. The synth can receive only note on/off and pitch bend MIDI messages. It would be logical if the module could also receive modwheel or aftertouch messages for expressive play. The proportional pitch control buttons on the front panel are too small, too rigid and hardly useable. Otherwise this is a great machine.
