Pretty good sound
Anonymous 25.01.2017
I used it to record my songs on studio, this has a pretty good clarity sound warm, the compressor is very complete, we can get a really cool sound for a few dollars, of course we can't expect that this ART Pro channel II really works like Avalon but, he has a very comfortable sound, do everything that we need to create a good clarity records. the VU meters are incredible, with the switch button you can see the compressor values or the pre values.
I used it to record my piano Roland 300 nx, my voices with AKG 400 perception, my Taylor GC, and my fender strat. in line on my amp, and record with the micro.

I'm really satisfy with this stuff, this really works well !!

Art Pro Channel11 - versatile and capable channel strip
Nick3545 05.11.2014
Very good build with milled front and slightly curved front panel, great visual look and metering so you can monitor everything, especially useful when hooked up to other things. Knobs are good with notched detents all the way round so you can be precise and legends are mostly above the knobs so you can still read the if the unit is mounted low down. I can see two tubes through the vent slots on the top ( 12AX7) and plate voltage adjustable ( on line folks say between 60 and 150V ). The VU meter is assignable for input, output or compression and there is also an LED to advise if any part of the system overloads. usefully you can overdrive the input to get a slight tube distortion is you wish but headroom is good if you don't want this also. Loads of ins and outs at different stages makes flexibility great. EQ high knob range is not high but more like a presence control on a guitar amp. great eq control overall and optical compressor very good also but would have preferred lower threshold and ratio capability but non the less still very good. Absolute clarity not like say an SPL gold mic but often a slightly coloured sound is more musical and flattering so I find this more useful for general use especially on contemporary music and some instruments, presence is slightly better and the unit is more engaging to use. I am getting great results using it with electric guitar and putting it before an amp or on send return so I can have compressor and eq and balanced and unbalanced outs all at the same time. On/off switch is recessed to avoid accidental switch off and is on front panel and IEC connector on rear. Thomann sent me a free IEC lead also which was great. No dedicated line in jack but mic in has a two stage gain input so is designed to cover this and instrument input on the front means the rear can stay hooked up.
No headphone jack but with many outs you can deal with this. All analogue unit, but the manual is in places incorrect and refers to other units. Overall very pleased and impressed with the sound, build and capability of this unit you could use for so many instruments and post processing or as insert for a guitar amp. great price from thomann. recommended.

This preamp is just amazing for this price range!
I'm using it for 4 years now and it performs great! Used it with large diaphragm mics and also dynamic mics (SM7B). Great versatility

Bit noisy and tempramental
Ben1363 28.11.2014
I use this mainly as a bass guitar preamp live. I can get a really good sound, but I have problems with hiss. This would make it unsuitable as a recording channel. I'm sure if I sent it back, it would be repaired and would be quiet again, but it sounds so good as part of my bass rig, I just don't want to be parted from it!

Great sound, reasonable build quality, but poor quality control to allow a noisy unit out of the door.
