Double Ribbon MicrophoneBeyerdynamic is one of the few manufacturers in the world that still build ribbon microphones. The classic among them is the dynamic double ribbon microphone M 160.
The outstanding transmission quality of the M 160 and its hypercardioid characteristic with noise cancellation of 25 dB at 110°, which effectively suppresses lateral sound reflections and disturbing extraneous sound, make the M 160 an ideal microphone wherever the highest demands are placed on recording or transmission technology. It is recommended for miking stringed instruments such as violin, viola and cello as well as for miking piano and grand piano and for hi-hat percussion. Ideal for saxophone.
The black chrome finish of the M 160 and its extremely small dimensions allow it to be used both in television and in film studios, where the avoidance of light reflections and the inconspicuousness of the microphone are essential.
In combination with the dynamic double ribbon microphone M 130, the M 160 is ideal for stereo recordings in MS (mid-side) technology.
