Petit, costaud mais la tête à l'envers...

Les + : compacité, puissance et souplesse et support technique
Les - : inversion des états des sorties CTL, impossibilité de mise à jour, absence de mode momentané

Bonjour,
J'ai acheté, il y a peu, le Boss ES-5, et ma première impression fut désastreuse, je n'arrivais pas à piloter les canaux de mon ampli Diezel Schmidt. Armé d'un testeur de continuité j'ai compris pourquoi, les sorties CTL 1/2 et 2/3 ont leurs états inversés !

Je veux dire que si vous paramétrez sur [ON] (contacts du relai fermé) en fait, la sortie est sur [OFF] (ouvert) ! Je me suis bien miné le moral avant de comprendre ce qui se passait. Pour moi c'est un défaut de production, cela ne correspond pas à ce qui apparait dans le manuel. J'ai contacté Boss qui ne reconnait pas le problème mais ne le dément pas non plus...
Attention, Steve, du service consommateur, a tout de même pris beaucoup de temps à m'aider (je voulais un contact momentané). A force de gamberge et d'essais j'ai pu découvrir toute la puissance et la souplesse du truc.

Sa compacité, cette puissance et cette souplesse en font malgré tout un excellent produit qui correspond bien à ce que je cherchais.
Je lui reprocherais donc cette inversion et surtout l'impossibilité d'une mise à jour qui aurait balayé le problème. Dans l'idée de se simplifier la vie, on aurait également aimé avoir un état de sortie momentané en plus des modes LAT, PLS, INV, et TP2/3/4.

Mais comme il sait tout faire, j'ai quand même pu l'obtenir car dans chaque patch, on peut créer 8 assignations différentes. Tous les switchs sont réassignables et un même switch peut déclencher de nombreuses conséquences, et beaucoup d'autres choses encore... Puissant je vous dis.
Cependant je n'ai pas encore pu tester les sorties midi...

Professionelle Lösung für Live und Studio

Ich nutze das Es-5, um meine Sounds abspeichern und auf Knopfdruck abrufen zu können. In Kombination mit einem Gerät wie dem Eventide H9 sind nahezu alle Sounds speicherbar.

Der große Vorteil Es-5 liegt darin, dass die Sounds SEHR umfangreich angepasst werden können. Unter Anderem kann mittels des internen Verstärkers die Lautstärke der einzelnen Sounds angepasst werden (z.B. Boost für den Refrain etc.), die Reihenfolge der Effekte kann frei gewählt und gespeichert werden, Effekte können parallel angesteuert werden (z.B. Zerre und Delay) und es gibt die Möglichkeit, Effekte weiter abzuhören, wenn das Programm gewechselt wird. (Sehr nützlich beispielsweise, wenn von einem Delay oder Hall zu einem trockeneren Sound gewechselt werden soll, da so die Hallfahne nicht abgeschnitten wird)

Hinzu kommen volle MIDI-Implementierung (Clock und Steuerung des Speichers z.B. des H9 usw.)
und zahlreiche weitere Möglichkeiten, das Es-5 für die eigenen Ansprüche umzuprogrammieren. So kann beispielsweise allen Fußschaltern eine andere Funktion zugewiesen werden, wenn einem das nützlich erscheint. Ich hab mir beispielsweise auf den Mute-Button einen MIDI-CC Befehl gelegt, der den Tuner des H9 anschaltet.

Selbst das alles sind nur ein paar der Möglichkeiten.
Man sieht also schon, dass die Nutzung alles andere als simpel ist. Insgesamt ist die Bedienung aber sehr intuitiv gestaltet und wer bereit ist, etwas Zeit zu investieren, wird mit ungeahnten klanglichen Möglichkeiten und voller Abrufbarkeit aller ausgetüfftelten Sounds belohnt.

Einen Stern muss ich abziehen, weil das Es-5, welches der kleine Bruder des Es-8 ist, wohl aus Platzgründen keinen Schalter für Bank-Down oder das Wechseln der Gruppe hat (Patches sind in Gruppen und Bänken organisiert) und diese Funktionen extra programmiert werden müssen, wenn man sich nicht bücken will.
Die Verarbeitung ist einwandfrei und mutet stabil an.

Ich nutze zur Zeit nur 4 Effekte in meinem Setup.
Allen, die mehr Effekte nutzen möchten, sei das Es-8 empfohlen, das wohl noch umfangreichere Möglichkeiten bietet.

Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert für alle, die sich endlich aufs Spielen konzentrieren wollen statt auf das Umschalten von Effekten.

Questo sistema di switching è sicuramente un ottimo prodotto. Ha 5 send/return silenziosissimi per collegare gli effetti e due modalità molto semplici ed efficaci per la gestione degli stessi. MIDI in/out e possibilità di collegare dei pedali di espressione (e un accordatore). Molto interessante a mio avviso nella modalità "memoria" (che consente di salvare fino a 200 patch) la possibilità di modificare l'ordine del singolo effetto all'interno della catena, senza doverlo scollegare e ricollegare ogni volta. La struttura è solida e corrisponde perfettamente alle mie aspettative. In caso si possieda un maggior numero di effetti sicuramente da consigliare anche il "papà" ES-8

ça me reconcilie avec boss

tellement d'autres pédales boutique, que j'ai sorti il y a longtemps les classiques DS1 et autres CS2 de mon pedalboard.
et voilà que je mets au controleur midi.
j'ai tout regardé, il me fallait 4 ou 5 instant presets (sans avoir à les rappeler)
le seul efficace que j'avais trouvé était le CYBER de mooer.
mais la fabrication de mooer j'en doutais un peu
alors, je commande sur thotho le ES5
quelle merveille!
ce qui a retenu mon attention à l'usage:
- switch silencieux et réactifs
- possibilité de changer le signal, de mettre des effets en //.
super pratique, par exemple, je controle mon mesa triple crown avec
j'ai sur le canal 1 le compresseur après le booster ( ne me demandes pas pourquoi, ça sonne mieux comme ça même si je sais qu'instinctivement, je l'aurais mis en début de chaine)
et bien, lorsque j'enclenche mon canal 2, le compresseur revient en premier et le boost et les OD après.
- une sortie tuner ( du coup le tuner est en mode always on always on) et mute général
- une programmation midi déconcertante de facilité
- une taille mini intégrable dans un pedalboard déjà fourni
- un écran bien large et modifiable.
j'aurais juste aimé pouvoir mettre des jack coudés, vu la taille du chassis est l'implémentation des entrées, c'est impossible.
je me suis tapé 13 soudures à refaire (5 send et 5 rtn)+ tuner+ in+ out
alors que j'avais déjà mes câbles patch
et j'ai testé les jacks sans soudure, je ne fais pas du tout confiance..

le ES8 est bcp plus gros, et demande plus de place ( franchement, 5 effets dans la boucle c'est largement suffisant)
