Gibson Explorer 2, 1981 limited edition, gold-plated hardware, original case
This version of the Gibson Explorer came with flamed maple top, 3-piece maple neck and the high-output Gibson "Dirty Finger" pick-ups. It was built at the Gibson Kalamazoo Plant, Michigan, USA on July 14th 1981 - production number: 22 and has all the original gold-plated hardware, pick-ups and case. As far as I understand, these limited edition guitars were only made during 1981-84. I bought this guitar in London in 1986 and have looked after it ever since. It sounds fantastic, looks amazing and is in very good condition considering its age. It plays beautifully and the original jumbo-frets are almost like new. There is some minor play-wear (mostly on the back) and although worn, the gold-plating is still in good shape. Guitar stand included - it doesn't fit on a stand for a normal shaped guitar! Included: Solid maple body with beautiful flamed maple top 3-piece maple neck Ebony fingerboard with dot inlays and 22 frets 2x Gibson Dirty Finger humbucker pick-ups 2x Volume, 1x Tone, 3-way pick-up selector switch TP-6 Tune-O-matic fine-tuning bridge Gold-plated hardware Includes original Gibson Explorer hardshell case Guitar stand
