Nice, but...
Raz 05.03.2021
I used these strings on a Taylor 324 which is a mahogany top guitar. I like the mellow warm sound it gives and regardless of the strings I use the guitar always shows its character.

The strings felt good to the touch with very little to no resistance but with quite a strong sound present when moving the left hand, at times too strong.

The sound is warm, unique and pleasant but the fact that the sound made when changing positions is so protruding I went back to my favorites, Elixir Phosphor-Bronze.

They're nice if you want a change but I couldn't get used to them.

Best of both?
Achi11es 22.10.2013
I thought I would try out the FlatTops as a compromise. I had been using Round Wounds for my acoustics and detested the squeek playing up and down the fretboard. Flatwounds work well for my archtops, but produce a muffled sound acoustics, so thought I would try these. And am I very glad that I did. The EFT16s hold sustain and produce a fantastic tone. Plenty of character, volume and clarity.

Tranformed a great guitar into one I now want to play
WozaPT 03.10.2018
I had a great hand built parlour style guitar built in 2008 from a music shop in one of the Colorado mountain villages which has a great tone and beautiful craftsmanship, but the squeal from the standard Martin strings it had been fitted with drove me mad to the point that it became the least used guitar in my set. I recently decided to look into ways of curing the squeal and discovered that the EFT16 were designed to eliminate this. So I ordered a set to fit to one of my other workhorse folk guitars just to see if they actually worked and what effect they would have on tone before committing to a set for the custom guitar. What a transformation! Squeal is hardly noticeable and the tone is perhaps a little less bright but for me the lack is squeal far outweighs this. I ordered more right away for the hand built which now gets regular use. If squeal drives you mad you should certainly give these strings a try.

Whistle free
Alph 17.10.2020
I hate string whistle - caused by fingers moving over wound strings - and am constantly astonished at recordings of acoustic solo guitar which feature it.
These strings have the smoothness of jazz strings but the tone that I want from a steel-strung acoustic guitar. I can't recommend them highly enough for who want tone but no whistle.
