Excellent Looper
TonyOsax, 17.05.2017
I use this for a few different things, one for rhythm tracks for the jazz trio I play in, another is for playing backing tracks for practise and the last one is just playing guitar for fun.

I'm going to get my only, but big complaint in first. It is sold as having a software loop manager which allows you to create and download a library of loops to the JamMan. I've been waiting a year now and it still does not work with Windows 10. Digitech say they are working on it, but they clearly are not. Luckily I have an old laptop that is running Windows 7 and JamManager works fine on it, but it is a real pain to have to switch to another computer.

Having said that, the JamMan is by far the best product for my needs and is much cheaper than any other looper with equivalent capabilities.

The JamMan is very solidly built and the foot switches work very well and are conveniently placed. It is very well equipped with inputs and outputs and the ergonomics are pretty good.

It has a lot of functionality and therefore has a lot of buttons, many with multiple uses, and I have had to spend a lot of time with the manual (which is good) to learn how to use it. You can get it to do simple things very easily but if you want to use some of the more advanced functions you will have to spend some time reading.

I especially like the fact that you can set it to record as soon as you start to play, and automatically fit the recording into the time slot when you press stop. That makes it much easier to deal with timing issues. You can also change the tempo on playback which is really handy. One little grouse is that you can change the tempo before you start but not during playback - but you can buy an add-on pedal that will allow you to do so. That seems a bit silly.

The storage capability is infinite - you can plug in an SDHC card and get 99 more loop locations, and you can buy as many SDHC cards as you need (although one is probably enough for most people).

The sound quality is just excellent! Every instrument I have tried with it - guitar, bass guitar, percussion instruments - sounds exactly as I am hearing it in the room. It's quite hard to get the relative volume of the instruments right if you do overdubs - once you've recorded the overdub you can't adjust the instrument volumes. You can do that on some of the Boss pedals but they are a lot more expensive.

In summary the JamMan Stereo is an excellent looper with lots of capabilities. It's a real shame about the lack of Windows 10 support for JamManager.

Well built but a bit outdated
midnightdim, 01.03.2019
This was my first looper ever. I used this unit for a while then sold it.
It's well built and sounds good, but it's just a bit hard for me to use it and I think its features are rather limited.

When recording vocal loops it's hard to hit the button exactly at the moment you need it - the buttons are rather heavy, but I believe you can get used to this.
I thought I'd be able to record different parts like verse and chorus and switch between them easily without changing the tempo, but it looks like it's not possible with this looper.
It's good for basic stuff, but you don't have much control over what it does.
The interface is not very intuitive.

And nowadays I believe software loopers can do much more with some MIDI controller.

Superb product
28.02.2017
I ordered this jam man last Thursday, it arrived in a well packaged cardboard container three working days later.

Firstly, the quality of the audio is crystal clear, the layout of the functions and the user friendly manual meant I could use the product to the best of its capabilities after one hour.

The one thing I would say is that the product is only as good as the user, ie your timing is EVERYthing.
There is an auto-quantise function but the natural 'feel' of overdubbing your own playing (in my humble opinion) is best when playing live.
However, that's just my opinion. Plus, the click tracks from the various rhythm options can be turned down nice and low if you need a helping guide when recording/ overdubbing.

In summary, this is really going to enhance my playing in terms of feel/ soloing skill and creating my very own soundscapes with little more than a nice guitar a Loudspeaker and this pedal.
Pleeeease consider this before a bossrc30 , don't let them fool everyone into thinking there are no other loopers out there.

a great device for developing/improving your own musicianship
James7727, 28.07.2015
The Digitech JamMan Stereo has been a great addition to my playing as a musician and song writer. I was keen to buy a looper and was torn between the Ditto X2 and the Digitech JamMan but went for the JamMan because it had an internal memory which made it easier to record and save loops/tracks. I use the JamMan as a kind of musical sketchpad to lay-down/sketch ideas for tunes, and, also as an impromptu studio to lay down numerous tracks on one loop; I can play my electronic drums, bass guitar and rymthn guitar through the JamMan to work on ideas, laying down a myriad of sound layers. Slight negatives with the JamMan appear to be the inability to change the speed of the pre-set tempos (or is this just me?) and the trial and error required in gauging the correct recording level for each additional layer on a loop, especially if changing instrument, however, these really are no major issues. Using the JamMan as an aspiring musician does hep to improve ones own ability/ musicianship because it does help you to work-out and develop your own ideas. Overall I am very much pleased with the JamMan, I feel it will really help me to improve and a great way to exchange ideas for tracks with friends.
