Not a clone of anything. Drawmer’s original design.

For mix bus duties I find it more desirable than any VCA compessor because 1968 MKII progressive-rate compression curves are more musical and organic. I also find it more versatile than many much more expensive compressors in terms of overall tone - is clean and round with good bottom end, it does not introduce phase distortion at the ends of spectrum as many transformer balanced units do (API 2500 for instance, great compressor that simply does not work for certain styles).

1968 MKII output section deserves separate mention. It’s not just make-up gain, it's basically a warmth control and clipping section combined. The way this unit clips the output is just amazing!

Nobody mentioned, but 1968 MKII has a well designed linear power supply and you can simply hear it. Thank you Drawmer for not cutting the costs here. (SMPS power supply inside Manley Nu Mu was a bad surprise).

I used to have 1968 ME model and compared to it this one has lower noise and more flexibility thanks to two well chosen frequencies for sidechain filter: big for 75 Hz and bigger for 150 Hz, instead of single 100 Hz on older ME model.

Thank you Drawmer for still producing solid no-hype truly professional gear and spending costs on quality instead of crappy marketing.

très Très très bon compresseur, Tester sur un mix complet en sortie de console en live, sur des voix, sur des bass. Rien à dire ça ne mange pas les aigus, ça compresse mais ne casse pas la dynamique grâce à la lampe situé en sortie de compresseur qui ramène du bas médium chaud et rond. Les réglage sont très facile, le vu mètre très cohérent en mode gain réduction. Le bypass est très pratique pour se rendre compte de ce que l'on fait, et voir que y'a pas photo, ça marche. Difficile d' utiliser d'autre compresseur dans la gamme de prix inférieur apres celui la. 10 fois mieux qu'un 160A.

Dieser Kompressor spielt eindeutig in der großen Liga!

Habe ihn hauptsächlich für Stimmen verwendet und kann ihn dafür "wärmstens" empfehlen. Er dickt die Stimmen angenehm an, ohne ihnen die Klarheit zu nehmen.

Es bleibt immer eine gewisse Griffigkeit bestehen, was ich bei Kompressoren der Oberliga so herausragend finde. Auch als Deesser über den Sidechain konnte ich gute Ergebnisse erzielen, wobei hier die Listen-Funktion sehr hilfreich ist.

Mit den einstellbaren Parametern ist man schnell am gewünschten Ziel, wenn ich auch manchmal das Ratio-Poti etwas vermisst habe.

Preis/Leistung lassen mich aber eine klare Kaufempfehlung abgeben.

Despues de un tiempo utilizando este compresor puedo decir que es de las mejores compras que he realizado. Aun siendo a valvulas, el sonido es tremendamente transparente, al igual que la compresion. Ademas crea una mejora significativa en la imagen estereo, produciendo un sonido con una sensacion de más apertura.

Es tremendamente bueno en la compresion de bus, e incluso en la masterización. El ratio variable facilita el control de la macrodinamica si utilizamos tiempos más largos, con lo que hace muy bien el trabajo de igualar las diferentes partes de una mezcla.

Definitivamente no es una buena opcion si lo que se busca es un compresor con caracter. Como he destacado antes, es un compresor muy transparente pese a ser a valvulas.

Lo ultimo a destacar es el precio, muy ajustado para la calidad y el sonido del compresor.

Definitivamente, yo creo que es un compresor que cumple SOBRADAMENTE con cualquier tipo de situación en que haya que comprimir una mezcla completa.
