Electro Harmonix Stereo Electric Mistress

Flanger Effect

This effect is best heard in the subtle beats that Mister David Gilmour has been using for decades (as of Animals) for his divine lead sound. The automatic sweep can be disabled in the "Filter Matrix Mode", and you can manually adjust at what stage of the flanging effect should "stand still" compared to a set Wah Wah (but of course a very different sound!).

In order to meet modern demands, the flanger can also be activated in combination with a chorus effect - naturally coming out in stereo.

Amazing tones
Fubar Henceforth 24.03.2019
The pedal has a wide range of tonal possibilities ranging from a gentle flanger sweep to a rotating speaker sound to ambient space craziness. All of which sound musical and are completely usable depending on you musical tastes. It simply blows away the flanger pedals I shave used in this regard. It's easy to get those classic flanger tones that you've been longing for!

The controls are simple to used which I appreciate. There's no complicated stitching or changing or a bunch of knobs and buttons to worry about. This makes it very usable on stage. I have three basic tones I use this for and although I can't easily change between them mid-song it is simple enough to change between songs.

The casing is sturdy and the control knobs have enough stick to them that I don't knock them out of place when I hit the pedal during a live show.

This has earned a permanent place on my pedal board and become an important part of my overall sound.

Great pedal!

Great effect, great pedal!
Daniel9393 08.01.2014
A fantastic good modulationseffect that after i acquired it has become one of my favorite pedals on gigs and on exercises. It has a really nice flangersound and i like that i can mix in a bit of chorus on it too. I also can "freeze" the rotationeffect via the steering wheel to the far left, or i can set really weird sound too if you want. Really good, also easy to maneuver and the smooth steering wheels and true bypass. It's smaller in reality than what you expect. It came with an AC adapter for my pedal which was also very nice. Now i have sold the pedal, but I miss it very much! For all of you Hendrixwannabee's out there!

My new Mistress xx

I really love this pedal. first of all its really well mad, strong enough to stand gigging.

Then the sounds, which go from a mild Chorus/ Flange effect to an absolutely bonkers head in a bucket mash of swirl and swoosh. The rate can be adjusted for the speed you want or you can take it down to what EHX call the filter matrix which can give an almost autowah effect amongst others.
The stereo output is brilliant for plugging into another amp should you wish, this also works even when the unit is switched off.

This pedal would enhance most tones from clean to dirty.

By the way you need to use the 9v power supply provided with the pedal, I tried it with my pedal board supply and it just developed a really annoying bass hum.,

My only gripe is it would be good to be able to switch Flange and Chorus separately, but hay I still love it.

A
Interesting combination of flanger and chorus
Anonymous 06.07.2016
Although it mentions the original Electric Mistress, it is a very particular pedal. It's actually has the flanger and chorus effects, but at the same time. You can mix the amount of each one of the effects you want, and their modulation speeds is (somehow) synchronized.

If you take each one of the effects separately, they are very good sounding on their own, rich and organic. But each one is very strict in terms of tweaking possibilities: just one knob (mix).

But what is really cool about this pedal is that you can blend in both effects and create a completely new sound. These blended sounds can be really great.

The speed knob is also something to be carefully explored. Some settings sound great at fast modulation speeds and awful at slow frequencies. You can get really interesting rotary speaker simulations at high modulation speeds. I recommend a search on Youtube for a video of Bill Ruppert exploring this pedal. I don't use the fixed filter settings, as they're just not useful for me.

Overall, it takes some time until you can really understand this pedal. After that, you have a really interesting tool to create very personal and pleasing chorus/flanger textures.
