Maybe the best EMG yet

I wanted something to go into a single pickup guitar and I wanted it to be active. As it would have to do more than just rhythm it had to have some versatility in it which ruled out the 81 as that is not great for cleans.

This pick up has some similarities to the 81 but is not as laser focussed and a bit more relaxed in that regards. It was just what
I wanted, a nice clean. Works really well across various gain levels. It sounds thick and has a great presence under high gain, doesn’t get muddy. It has that EMG character but does not come across as sterile.

If you want something different from EMG this is it.

If the 81 is too shrill for you the 57 is perfect. It is a beast than can do high gain in spades but has great cleans as well. This can do any style you throw at it.

Als Tausch -PU für Duncan Blackout erworben verrichtet er seinen Dienst in meiner Live-V... Für mich klingt er runder und natürlicher , nicht ganz so klinisch ,aber nicht weniger brutal ! Einbau war easy (sagt mein Techniker... :-) )

Monté sur une guitare faite moi-même corps frêne manche érable touche palissandre en diapason 25,5.
Initialement j y avait mis 1 emg89x en chevalet couplé à un 89xr en manche qui sonnait déjà franchement plus que bien(le 89x en chevalet c est top). Là pour le coup le niveau de sortie est plus élevé mais le son est plus ouvert proche d un passif et pas agressif . En grosse saturation c est bien(excellent même) mais là où il m à scotché c est sur les crunch poussés.en clean c est très beau un poil moins que le 89x.il est souvent comparé à un 81 plus chaud et personnellement je le trouve complètement différent. Pour moi il est cousin du 85(que je monte en chevalet aussi) en moins compressé et moins nasillard avec plus de médiums.
Il reste moins troisième micro préféré derrière les sp custom heat crusher et la série active scalmold de ce dernier
