The James Hetfield signature set captures the clarity and punch of a passive pickup while maintaining the well-known "active" tone. They were designed according to the pickups James Hetfield has been using for 30 years. More power and a fuller low-end at the neck position, tight attack with less inductance for a cleaner bass at the bridge.

These are the first set of signature pickups I've ever gone for. Have to say they are exactly what you would expect when you order pickups with Hetfield's name on them.

Put these together with a Metallica preset and your guitar seamlessly melts into the mix if you're playing along with one of their studio albums.

The other massive benefit of these (and other EMGs) is the solderless installation, I've tried soldering before and sucked at it. Installation of these was so straightforward. Couldn't ask for more

After some time using this set i can verify it is what it is supposed to be.
High output active power with a touch of the passive humbucker feel.
I put these on a Jackson js1x (which is cheaper than the set) and it sounds amazing. Great cleans, super powerful output. Very easy to install by yourself with the solderless system. Incredibly pleasing to the eye.
A little bit more dynamic than we are used to with active pickups.

So...
if you are looking for a high gain, metaly type of sound with a warm clean option, this is one way to go without being disappointed.

If you are looking for a bluesy- crunch type of tone me prepared to spend some time with your amp and pedals configuration...

Hab damit meine SC-Custom II aufgewertet und es hat den Klang einfach so verbessert. Der Einbau ist sehr einfach und man kann das Kit auch mal in eine Gitarre einbauen, welche vorher nur passive Pickups hatte.
