Finally my Gibson T-Bird sounds good.
Csaba V. 27.05.2017
The Gibson Thunderbird is the most comfortable bass guitar in the world for me.

But the sound... oh my god. Its old. I know there is a "vintage revival" going around - but man, teh T-Bird with it's stock Gibson pickups sounds old - with almost every other bass out there the fight for you to be heared in the mix it is a lot easier.

And low and behold - here comes EMG with pickups that fit in the T-Bird.
Finally - we'be got more than the TB HZ pickups.

My Gibson sounds modern. Sounds great - lots of tonal options with the push-pull setting. Especially with a EMG BTC system added. (it juuust fits into the bass - but the electronics cover you have to raise above the indent - ala Spector style - where the cover is not in line with the back of the guitar but kind of sits on it).

There is nothing new to be told about the EMG TB TW... it is a TW pickup that fits into the TBird.

Thank You EMG.

Thomann .... please get the other T-Bird pickups from EMG ... DC, CS, P ...

I'd like to try them out, too :D

Great choice
IGOR MILLER 26.04.2022
Purchased it for my custom made Thunderbird copy with 36 inches scale length and it sounds amazing!
I'm using this pickup in the neck position. It sounds fantastic in both modes, very punchy and thick.
The wiring kit is super simple. Love EMGs for this invention.
Overall, this is the best pickups for Thunderbird basses!

A great new offering from a great old company.
Anonymous 30.03.2017
The only gripe I've had with EMG pickups since the 80's has been the sharp cornes of the enclosures.
So I was thrilled to see the TBTW being offered at last.

Bought a pair to be put in an -09 Epiphone Korina LTD that has seen a way too little playtime.
Not that the original PU's are bad, just nothing exciting ;).

Mind You, these are NOT A DIRECT REPLACEMENT for Epi Explorer or TB IV, something that should be immediately apparent when comparing the listed dimensions and the measurements taken from the pickups.
I don't mind a little bit of filling and routing needed for a good looking fit, but that may be a dealbreaker or at least added expense for some.
The connectors won't fit through the internal passages as-is, so those have to be enlarged as well.

The switch potentiometers are a tight fit on the Explorer control cavity, but do not require routing.

Despite of the recomendations against using BTC-system, the V+V+T(BTC)+balance(ABC) works without a glitch.
The BTC WILL REQUIRE routing to fit into the control cavity.

The somewhat midrangey tone will take some getting used to after 70's vintage PU's on my main bass Herby.

Précis et verssatile

Fais bien le job sur une fender dimension bass. C'est le seul qui passait dans l'emplacement, il est très bien mais pour les gros rock ou métal je préfère le son de la signature mégadeath ou de la kelly.
