A "meteoric" new bass from Fender

With its legendary instruments, the long-established company Fender has helped to write a large chunk of modern music history. As far as the low end is concerned, this applies above all to the two archetypes, the Jazz Bass and the Precision Bass. It is therefore all the more exciting when the California-based company introduces a completely new model: The Fender Player Plus Meteora Bass. This broadens Fender's spectrum not only in terms of design, but also in terms of sound. Features like the two new humbuckers and the three-band EQ clearly stand out compared to Fender's previous models. The Meteora offers a variety of modern sounds, paired with a completely new look, and thus meets the demands of bassists looking for something cutting-edge. The Meteora, which is made in Mexico, is also very playable, with features such as rounded fret edges.

Tried-and-tested meets state-of-the-art

Meteora translates to "celestial phenomenon" and the asymmetrical design of the body with its "jagged" horns is strongly reminiscent of a star. In terms of wood, Fender has relied on tried-and-tested materials for the Meteora by combining an alder body with a maple neck. Two distinct finishes (Silverburst and Sunburst) are available with a maple fingerboard, and two others (Opal Spark and Tequila Sunrise) with a Pau Ferro fingerboard. The neck is coated with a matte finish, offering a very comfortable playing feel that is further enhanced by the rounded fret edges. Thanks to the two powerful Fireball humbuckers and the three-band EQ (with controls for bass, middle, and treble), the Meteora has a broad range of sounds up its sleeve. You can also switch it to passive mode via a toggle switch for more traditional sounds.

New look, new sound

At first glance, you can tell that the Fender Player Plus Meteora is designed to appeal to all bassists who don't insist on only playing vintage instruments and are on the lookout for a bass that's off the beaten track. Thanks to its design, the Meteora is definitely an eye-catcher on any stage. In terms of sound, it also stands out nicely from its big brothers - the Fender Jazz Bass and Fender Precision Bass. So if you're looking for an innovative sound combined with a fresh look that hasn't already been copied endless times, the Meteora is sure to be an attractive choice. Of course, this also applies to all those who already own a Jazz Bass and/or a Precision Bass and want to expand their sonic arsenal.

About Fender

Fender is without doubt one of the most legendary guitar and amplifier manufacturers of all time. The company was founded in 1946 by its namesake Leo Fender († 1991), whose innovative ideas brought a breath of fresh air into the musical world. His Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass are not only classics – they also continue to shape the styles of musicians in countless genres to this day. Timeless Fender amplifier models such as the Bassman, Twin, Deluxe, and Princeton also enjoy a stellar reputation. Besides maintaining its classic product portfolio, however, the company is also constantly developing new products that make Fender a driving force in today’s music industry.

A sonic universe

The Fender Player Plus Meteora has virtually no limits in terms of sound and style. Its two Fireball humbuckers allow for a variety of very usable sounds. The bridge pickup is suitable for crisp, cutting, and transparent finger-style grooves or melodic interludes, while the neck pickup provides plenty of punch and a full-sounding low end. Both pickups together deliver an all-round sound that feels at home with a variety of playing techniques and styles. And things get really interesting when the three-band EQ comes into play. With the dedicated controls for bass, middle, and treble, players can shape the sound of the Meteora to suit their own individual taste.
