Is just ok for the price.

the model i got has the skunk stripe moving around freely, one day it might be protruding the next day it might be deeper than the neck. It is definitely annoying to feel the skunk stripe when playing.
The pick ups sound like farts but that is to be expected from a 250 € guitar.

It's the best guitar for beginners

The sound is not so close to Fender. But it is a unique sound and that makes this guitar better. If you are gonna start playing guitar, this guitar will be perfect for you.

Fender Squier Affinity Strat FM HSSBB
Palle W. 03.09.2021

Keep rockin'.

In english:

I originally bought this guitar because of its appearance and because I had some extra quality guitar parts to be used.

I have to admit that after opening the package, the first impression was a little bit disappointing.
The flame veneer cover looked better in the pictures than in reality. At least in the individual that I got, the flames are very faint and not as clearly visible as in the pictures.

I did a quick test acousticly directly from the package without an amplifier and therefore I can’t say anything about pickups or amplified sound. Unlike in Thomann's pictures, this one was made in China, not Indonesia. Irrelevant to me, but for some it can be an issue.
Acoustically sounds stronger than my Fender MIM (2 pcs of alder and ash bodies). The body is also thinner than in MIM Fenders and my Squier Affinity surf green 2019.
The guitar is also lighter than any of the above.

The fret ends were a bit sharp but it seems to be a common issue even on more expensive guitars. A few swipes with an abrasive sponge and the matter was taken care of. Otherwise there is no complaints about the neck, there's no high frets or dead spots. The action can be adjusted surprisingly low without string buzz. I also like the neck profile and its satin finish very much, although the rosewood reinforcement on the neck was a bit elevated. I smoothed it with a piece of sandpaper and I finished the whole neck with no.2000 water sandpaper and now it’s perfect for my taste.

I changed the zinc block in the tremolo to a brass one. Also changed the pickups to 2 SD singlecoils and Duncan Design Distortion, and now it rocks!
The 2-point tremolo works well and the guitar stays in tune at least in my use, though I don't do any dive bombs or EVH tricks.

I considered replacing the tuning machines and pots as well, but to my surprise, they were higher quality than in my other Squier originally, so I left them unchanged. The pickup selector is a cheap piece of garbage and I will change it at some point.

Overall, I am very pleased and would strongly recommend if you're willing to put a little effort to correct the small flaws by yourself. It makes no sense to take a guitar of this pricerange to a professional for these fixes, since you would probably have to pay more than the price of the guitar itself (at least in Finland).

Rock on!!!

I would say it is a big step up from older affinity models. Basically, it is like a Fender Player Strat but with Ceramic magnets instead of Alnico and 21 frets instead of 22. A great guitar choice for modding too.

I was unlucky and got a guitar with defected electronics and strings were not in the center of the neck. So, I had to return it back, but will absolutely buy one again. It is a normal thing with cheap guitars because it is a mass-produced product, so the quality is not equal, but do not let it scare you from buying one.

Pros:
+ A lot better frets then you would expect. No sharp edges or any discomfort
+ 42mm nut width and 1 string tree instead of 2
+ Better quality pickups and electronics
+ A Beautiful flamed maple top
+ New vintage tuners hold guitar in tune a lot better (if you know how to use them)
+ 2-point tremolo and no sharp saddles
+ A big 70s headstock with gloss finish
+ A thinner, lighter and more comfortable guitar body then regular Strat
+ No gloss finish on the neck like on Classic Vibe series...

Cons:
- The guitar body is made of 3 wood parts that does not even match the color. (Only visible on the back of the guitar because of clear finish)
- 21 frets
- I got one that is made in China even through it should have been Indonesian made
like in the pictures
