The holy grail of bass amplification.
Cuni, 09.11.2017
After having owned Ampeg (MicroVr-200W) and Aguilar(TH500) amps I was still not very happy with my sound on stage.

I have a Barefaced Big Baby 2 speaker, I play the Blues and my sound stage in the mix(ie. with drums+guitars+harmonica etc) was Ok-ish with both brands.
I have a Fender Jazz, with round-wound Pyramid Gold strings and mostly play with the thumb (palm mute) to have that double bass sound, when playing at home or at sound check in a concert, the sound was good but whenever power was needed I just felt overwhelmed in the mix.

My friend had a combo from GK(200W) and the sound coming from the little amp was amazing, I was playing with it in JAMs and loved the sound in the mix, so I decided to go "all in" in the GK head business and boy was I right....

Yesterday after testing it out in a JAM I could not be more happy with GK. It is a perfect match for the Barefaced Big Baby 2 ( BB2). I have all the volume I need, the sound I was after ( round, soft, mellow ) and LOUD. Other amps would not be able to achieve this.
In the end ( 2hours) the FANs were inaudible, had to put my ear next to them to know if they are working, clipping light never came on ( and it was LOUD).

Pros :
Small form factor ( 3 fingers height)
High power factor ( so much headroom for everything)
High quality sound ( no EQ needed almost! )
Controls are great ( not super sensitive to small increments)
Controls are "linear" ( some brands make their own "dynamic" EQ and Gain <- very bad)
Fan's are almost inaudible ( works for studio)

Cons:
None, absolutely none!!!

Side note: My unit had some small cosmetic/functional defects, GainB knob is loose ( all others OK) and the alluminium is stained in the switchs for Mute&Padding.
Thomann agreed to send me a new unit and when it arrives I send my back (no downtime :D ).

EDIT ( After 6 months) : The power is there, definitely! However I could just not get the sound I wanted...I alwasy struggle with the EQ.
Went for a BassBlock800, same power, better EQ, better in the Mix sound.

Loud, small, great tone - Love it!
Steve5998, 25.04.2015
This is a wonder of modern technology. An 800 watt bass head in such a small package! The mb range from gk is great, I've tried the 500, the 500 fusion and now the mb800 - all are fantastic, but I have settled on this one. The tone is great and it delivers the sound I've always been looking for with plenty of power and copious head room. Although the MB range doesn't BiAmp, there is no loss of tone or performance to my ear. I have also previously owned an 1001RB and still prefer this mb800.

The small and compact package is easy to transport and fits in nicely in the front pocket of my gig bag (M80). The Speakon out are great and having two gives more flexibility in connecting cabs. The backlight on all knobs is stunning on stage, and super practical allowing to see where you are at a glance without having to get up close or get out a flashlight. The remote two channel foot switch is great and the overdrive sound is really nice, although not valve sounding its modern tone and well loved GK growl comes through the mix nicely in a band and live setting.

This little amp is easy to EQ and sits nicely in the mix. Great all round. I've only marked down the build quality a little and the dual acting knobs turn more easily than the others and can be easily moved accidentally. I've used the amp live on many occasions and have really found it loves to be pushed. Great in all aspects. Very much recommended.
