I've been experimenting with string types, gauges and brands for about 350€ now and I think I just found my strings.

I've tried Warwick, Ibanez, Rotosound, Fender, Dunlop, D'Addario and Fodera strings and these GHS are so far the best. Very smooth winds around the core, so very smooth to the fingers and not sticky and also very balanced and consistent frequency response and string-to-string volume. The B string holds up surprisingly well even on my Ibanez SR305 despite its small diameter (better than the .135 B strings I've tried).

They are light but not "floppy" strings, so you can play lightly and relaxed but with impact in every note, which as you probably know is what makes a great tone, especially for recordings.

I got the idea to buy these because Leland Sklar uses this exact set for decades and now I understand why.

Good strings

I play mostly metal and I was looking for string with nice midrange punch. The Bass Boomers seem to have it.

The strings look well made. Tension-wise they feel pretty even, and the B string has a very defined sound, even on my 34" jazz bass. Can't say anything about their uselful lifespan because I haven't used them for that long, but they do seem to sound good even after a month or so, which is pretty nice.

The only downside was that they are too light. Because of that, I'm considering a return to Rotosounds. Wish GHS produced Boomers with the following gauges - 40-60-80-100-130. That would have been my dream set.

Overall, GHS Bass Boomers are my second favorite strings and the best nickel wound ones that I've played.

These strings are a very good deal, they get stable very fast and keep in tune quite well. The sound is punchy and stable, they Mach nicely with my bass.
