Great strings all 5!
Adri 06.10.2014
I bought this set for my 5 stringed e-bass and can't be happier, they suit my bass quite well I think.
The sound on my active bass is perfect to play sort of fusion jazz or world music, they are not too punchy or bright, I believe they are not too good to play rock, heavy metal or hard stuff where you may want more of a sharp cutting sound, also not good to play slap style, they are just too thick and also hard to bend, plus when doing so seems they might not take it too well and might snap.
My bass guitar is quite a cheap one but with a proper set up and with this strings and plugged to a good cabinet makes a good sound, like I said I feel this set is more adequate to play certain styles, not too aggressively will do.
The feel on the touch is very good too, satin like, and being thick reminds of a double bass, also keeps my nails in good shape to play guitar!
On the negative side you might have to mod your axe if the gauge of your nut is too narrow to accommodate the new set, also it takes a bit to get used to this thick strings under your fingers

Good flats for fair price
Samiel 25.06.2020
There are not many 5-string sets for fretless basses, so I am glad these work good. They are very smooth and despite thickness (126) still stiff enough to not buzz and hold solid tone in standard tuning. They are definitely stiffer than any rounds.
Strings got purple coating on the string ends, B string is not tapered.
Packaging is not air sealed.

Testing the GHS strings
Anonymous 30.04.2015
I am in a period, where I like to try different strings, after having stuck to the good old Rotos for +45 years.
This set of GHS I have mounted on my Yamaha 375 RBX and they have given a full sound all over the fretboard. Even the low B is very clear and not muddy in the low end. They feel good to play, a Little stiff for bending but a smooth surface, that makes them fast anyway.
Very satisfied.

Flatwound

Either you grok flatwound bass strings or you do not. If you do, you'll probably like these. The feeling is nice, the sound is full enough (with, of course, no buzzing of roundwound strings).
