Extended Real Book version with authentic music samples
I bought this book as an expanded reference book in C-major tuning. And I was caught by the new audio MP3 sample on a USB stick which was enclosed.
I must say that this book really holds a vast selection of the well-known and great jazz standards, but also a number of modern compositions as well - and a great number of standard bossa nova tunes, too. The sheet music is accurate as always in these real books from Hal Leonard and the calligraphy is quite easy to read - just the right set-up for faking on a gig or rehursal.
The music which was recorded on the USB is really awesome: from the first tune and upwards you get a great, acoustic jazz combo to lead the way through the jazz standards, and when moving on to the jazz rock or the bossa tunes, the piano goes electric with the swirling Fender Rhodes sound for variation. A nice well-conceived detail. And the samples play throughout the whole tune too. It is not just 3 minutes of sampling. OBS: Please note that the samples do not play the melody line in either tune of this book - all the samples are backing tracks for you whether you primarily are a singer or a soloist. Being an instrumentalist I would have loved just one chorus of the melody - and then moving on to solos and other parts.
When you plug the USB in your PC the music index hits you instantly in alphabetical order.
Well - I am impressed to see this book in the Thomann store. -But here it is. The price seems reasonable compared to the 240 tunes on the USB stick and the 462 pages of written sheet music inside the book.
I would buy the book again - if I ever should be so unlucky to lose it.
My recommendation: buy the book if you want a great package of sheet music and authentic sounding jazz samples and more. The pricing is fair considering this heavy package of music.

wirklich ausgereifte Arrangements!
Real Book ist ja jedem ein Begriff, der in irgendwelchen Jam-Sessions mitspielen möchte oder einfach Jazz-Standards lernen möchte.
Es gibt einige "Real Books" oder "Fake Books" am Markt, man ist sich aber nie ganz sicher wie legal oder illegal diese Werke sind.
Mit der Hal Leonard-Reihe kann man sich sicher sein, dass alles legal ist:
Inhalt: Real Book in C und USB-Stick mit den playalong Arrangements.
Buch in hervorragendem, lesbaren Druck
MP3s in sehr guter Tonqualität und vorallem in einer herausragende musikalischen Qualität, da die Songs alle von sehr guten Musikern eingespielt wurden:
1 Sternchen Abzug von mir, da sich Bass und Piano nicht durch Verwenden eines Stereokanales ausblenden lassen.
Es gibt einige "Real Books" oder "Fake Books" am Markt, man ist sich aber nie ganz sicher wie legal oder illegal diese Werke sind.

Gute Sammlung, aber nicht ganz authentisch
Insgesamt erhält man hier ein gutes Standardwerk für all diejenigen die ein Paar Jazz Standards zum Üben und Jammen suchen.
Man sollte es in jedem Falle mit dem USB Stick holen finde ich. Die Backings sind wirklich exzellent und machen viel Spaß. Die Notation ist auch gut und übersichtlich gelungen. Leider sind viele Songs nicht sehr authentisch umgesetzt und enthalten kleine Änderungen, die teilweise den Charakter der Songs etwas ändern und "glattbügeln". Dies ist sicherlich zum Großteil Absicht um ein unkompliziertes Jammen zu ermöglichen und hat somit auch seine Berechtigung. Gerade bei den berühmten Klassikern manchmal jedoch etwas schade. Das muss aber jeder für sich entscheiden, ob ihn das stört oder eher zum Üben animiert. Dennoch empfehlenswert.

Sehr viel brauchbares Songmaterial
Die Playalongs sind teilweise hervorragend. Im Vergleich zur ersten Edition, dem ursprünglichen Real Book sind ein paar wichtige Songs verloren. Trotzdem ein Must Have für jeden Jazzliebhaber!
