Full power for modelling amps and multi-effects processors

With an imposing 1,200 watts of power delivering 134 dB at its maximum sound pressure level, a super-wide and even frequency response across the spectrum, and extensive DSP functions, the Harley Benton FRFR-112A Guitar DSP Monitor clearly has everything you need to perfectly complement your modelling amps and multi-effects processors, at a budget-friendly price. Its robust polymer housing, 12" woofer, and 1" tweeter ensure a powerful and nuanced signal output, which can be further customised thanks to a switchable low-pass filter and three EQ presets. In addition, the FRFR-112A Guitar DSP Monitor can be used as a regular stage monitor or mounted on a stand and used as a front-of-house speaker thanks to its angled housing design and integrated 35mm stand flange.

Hear and be heard

The amplifier’s considerable power reserves and linear frequency response are further complemented by an integrated high-performance DSP. In addition to four different speaker simulations, three digital EQs have also been included in order to allow the sound to be quickly and flexibly adapted to any situation. These features are conveniently accessed via the integrated display, which, thanks to its powerful illumination, is always easy to read even in extremely dark surroundings. Furthermore, a master volume control allows quick volume corrections to be made on the fly, and in addition to the stereo inputs and XLR output, an AUX input with a 3.5 mm mini-jack socket has also been provided – should you wish to quickly connect your mobile phone and access your playlists to keep the party going after the gig.

A solid powerhouse with vast reserves

Whether they are using the Headrush Pedalboard, the Line6 Helix, one of the ubiquitous Boss multi-effects units, the Fractal Axe FX, or the Kemper amp – the Harley Benton FRFR-112A Guitar DSP Monitor is a worthy companion which will faithfully and effectively amplify every player’s painstakingly crafted sounds and presets. Those who often play live can always rely on the vast reserves of power and headroom to be consistently heard – and, more importantly, hear themselves – in any setting. The monitor’s wedge shape and mounting flange provide two possible placement options for the FRFR-112A so that it can always be set up in the ideal position.

Also an excellent solution for live keyboards and synthesizers

The Harley Benton FRFR-112A Guitar DSP Monitor’s highly linear frequency response works wonders with modelling amps and multi-effect processors, but it can amplify more than just stringed instruments. Keyboards and synthesizers, which also require a powerful, nuanced monitor sound with good audibility, will also be right at home with this powerhouse, especially when it comes to live performances. The integrated DSP’s EQ settings and speaker simulations mean that keyboard and synth players will also have no trouble dialling in their desired performance sound.

Great value, good sound, very minor niggles - overall a good buy

Good re-purposing of Thomann's PA cab as an FRFR guitar cab. Well built and nice design. Not too heavy and plenty of handles, plus multi position usage (wedge monitor, pole, upright). Padded cover (extra cost) good too.
I do think though that manufacturers shouldn't use Peak power to advertise their amps / powered cabs. Its not just Thomann / HB, they all seem to do it now. I would prefer to see this advertised as 300W RMS and not 1200W (peak power). RMS was always the industry standard, and 300W RMS is plenty for a guitar cab / monitor anyway.
My only slight negatives about the product are - the master vol rotary is apparently mounted direct to the main board so if it got a knock it could damage more than just the vol control. However it is slightly recessed, so only time (on the road) will tell. The other point is that the cab has quite a high level of hiss, even at the lowest possible volume levels and with nothing plugged into it. This hiss cannot be removed by using the onboard EQ high end.
Overall - not the best on the market, but definitely the best value for semi pro usage.

T
Very decent for the price
Terrains 12.10.2021
I bought this to use live with my Helix, so I haven't really used the built in DSP settings. The flat response is good and it puts out plenty of volume to compete with our drummer (who is damn loud!) so all was going well. But then I tried the Powercab with the Helix, and the improvement in sound and feel was pretty huge. However I also use a couple of synth pedals and this is perfect for those and as a general backup for venues without enough power to run everything through the PA, so it stays.

The general construction feels solid and it's well equipped with ins/outs. We used it during a live video session when a noisy DI output on another speaker was causing problems and the output on this saved the day. The settings have you covered for a variety of scenarios so it's a very capable all rounder.

A "Pro solution" at low budget price!!!
WilliamSats 07.11.2022
I got this monitor to pair it with my Hotone Ampero 2 Stomp and it does a great job. The sound comes out so naturally that i didn't even had to touch the EQ or the Cab Simulations (maybe in the future). If i had to find/tell something "negative" about its sound, I would say that it's a bit more "bassy" than other 12" FRFR speakers but this is not 100% negative as the onboard EQ can fix this. Personally I like it as (for me) it makes it sound "rounder and smoother"
The fact that it has 2 Inputs makes also a great choice for an acoustic gig (1 gtr, 1 mic).
Its size and weight are great and makes it easy to carry it here and there for "hit & runs" or even for a proper big gig. When it sits on the side the angle is right and you can hear it clearly even if you stand 1,5m away from it (in full band live situation).
The menu it's easy and you can control everything via one knob. It also has and XLR output so to go the another active speaker or in FOH console.
The only thing that I really didn't liked is the On/Off button that is a push/push switch and not the traditional switch. OK for some maybe it's better...
At the end of the day for the price you get an awesome 300W/RMS Active FRFR Guitar speaker, that can also work as a PA speaker, equipped with 3 different EQs & Cab Simulation where in different cases you would pay a lot more for the same features or even less.
