The all-rounder

With this high-quality guitar equipped with a humbucker and two single coils (HSS), you will be prepared for any scenario. The ergonomically designed body made of mahogany-like nyatoh wood with a high-gloss "Dark Pink" finish is bolted to the roasted maple neck in a truly traditional way. The fretboard with a 305mm radius is also made of roasted flamed maple, ensuring a snappy sound. A tasteful exterior, high flexibility, and tried-and-tested branded hardware and electronics come together to create an affordable instrument that is suitable for a wide range of genres.

Variety and aesthetics

The Fusion-III HSS Roasted DP model is a real eye-catcher. The body made of Nyatoh is painted all over with a matt "Dark Pink" finish. The roasted, bolt-on neck is made of Canadian flamed maple. This instrument is very comfortable to play thanks to its nut width of 42mm and a modern C-profile. The roasted maple fingerboard with its 22 wear-free jumbo stainless steel frets is also more than an off-the-rack product. In addition, a TUSQ nut, a Wilkinson 50IIK two-point tremolo, and WSC staggered locking diecast machine heads are used here. The electronics consist of a humbucker and two single coils with AlNiCo-5 magnets, made by Roswell. These are complemented by a five-way switch as well as volume and tone potentiometers. The tone potentiometer also allows the humbucker to be split via a push-pull function.

Can be used across genres

The Fusion-III HSS Roasted DP is an inexpensive guitar that stands out above all for its multitude of impressive as well as practical features. The roasted flamed maple neck alone is a rare find in this price range. But that's not all: Locking machines heads ensure reliable tuning, while the stainless steel frets are characterised by minimal wear - so the instrument can last for many years. And it will never get boring, as the sound is extremely flexible and is at home in many genres thanks to the three pickups, the five-way selector switch, and the option to split the bridge humbucker. This guitar is recommended for beginners who want to start with a high-quality instrument in order to remain satisfied for a long time, for example. But those on a budget who want to own a particularly elegant and flexible instrument for a comparatively low price will also find what they are looking for.

About Harley Benton

Since 1998, the Harley Benton brand has been catering for the needs of numerous guitarists and bassists. In addition to an extensive range of stringed instruments, Thomann's house brand also offers a wide choice of amplifiers, speakers, effect pedals, and other accessories. In total, the range includes over 1,500 products. Built by established names in the industry, all Harley Benton products combine quality and reliability at attractive and affordable prices. The continuous expansion of the range ensures that Harley Benton always provides new, exciting, and innovative products that keep players perfectly in tune with the musical world, day after day.

Sounds to suit any style

With the Fusion-III HSS Roasted DP, you will be ready for whatever situation presents itself. The HSS pickup configuration delivers both typical single-coil sounds with the intermediate positions and full-throttle Rock tones from the bridge humbucker. The AlNiCo magnets also provide a vintage-style touch to the sound - from Blues to Hard Rock and from Pop to Funk, there's nothing the Fusion-III HSS Roasted IB can't manage. Depending on the song and song part, you can vary the timbre and the degree of distortion beautifully. The Wilkinson 50IIK two-point tremolo system also contributes to the guitar's flexible sound-shaping abilities. On stage, changing your instrument for the sake of sound should therefore be unnecessary.

Awesome playability and price with rubbish frets and pickups
Emre_U 25.02.2022
Pros,
- Ergonomy and playability is awesome.
- Guitar is not heavy and well balanced, does not dive into the neck when holding on your nap without a strap.
- Fingerboard, neck radius and the feel of roasted canadian maple is excellent.
- Sustain is very very good, you can feel the sustain and each note all over the guitar.
- Definitely low action guitar without fret-buzz
- It's a good beginner choice for ease of playability and price

Cons,
- Stainless steel frets are garbage, they are not sanded and polished. While bending, strings are making a lot of noise, they do not have a smooth surface and they are not shiny as expected. Thomann customer services comment on this issue is "for this price range it's usual to have such kind of frets". I've have sanded+polished the frets, still unhappy with the results.
- Guitar tone is not bright at all, almost no high frequency, I could get a bright tone only from the single brigde pickup position with zero-bass on eq.
- Roswell pickups needs to be replaced, their tone is rubbish and from humbucker to single coil you loss half of the output.
- Watch out the tone if you're a beginner, it's hard to educate your ears especially for the clean tones.

Mostly Pleased
Your_Friend 24.05.2022
Update: I took the guitar to a Luthier to swap the pickups and file the frets and they found two cracks on the body of the guitar, hidden by the guitar neck. I'm willingly to look past everything else so far, but these cracks were old. Clearly someone saw but didn't give a f*** and pushed the guitar out. Buyer beware

I purchased the gig bag bundle. Shipping was awesome, received it in 4 days from the states.

Pros:
-Overall the guitar looks awesome. I love how the body color looks with the roasted maple fretboard and neck.
-The neck has an awesome feel to it. I was surprised that it felt slightly chunky
-It's lighter weight than I thought it would be. Lighter than my tele
-The hardware is pretty nice. locking tuners is a big plus for me

Cons:
-The frets are really rough.. I tried using a fret polishing kit but it didn't make a difference. These definitely need to be filed
-The strings it came with were obviously old. And filthy. My fingers turned black after a few chords
-Buzz on the low E string. Other frets seemed to be fine but it's pretty bad on the low E.
-I found some magnetic residue stuck in the pickups. Maybe steel wool? I was able to get it off with some tape but not a great look.

I would say overall i am pleased. Needs a little TLC but i'm happy with the specs and that i got it so fast

G
Absolutely awful QA on this. Beware.
GodotWaits 06.06.2022
The guitar has some very nice and enticing premium features, the stainless frets (medium jumbo may be a bit misleading, they don't feel like they belong in the jumbo category to tell the truth, but they're good nonetheless) and a roasted maple neck are pretty amazing for this price however, they absolutely butchered the fingerboard.

I bought one and when it arrived it had been ruined in transit, the trem was way off and the tuners couldn't keep in tune whatsoever and it had several cosmetic dings. I returned this and got a replacement which was to be checked by a tech at Thomann before shipping out of fear of another dud, and when it arrived it was in much better playable condition, thankfully. The trem was good but needs a little tuning to be more responsive, the tuners were better though not the best by a long stretch. So far so mediocre, and then... on taking a look at the neck, this lovely piece of roasted maple (really quite pretty, light flaming that has a nice reaction with natural light) with stainless steel frets (very rough, needing polishing but were placed well and evenly) had a fingerboard that had been hacked to bits. Whoever did the fretwork on this guitar kept missing when hammering and slipping when filing and covered the fingerboard in deep dents and scratches. The back of the neck also is marred by markings that look like paint that was on a thumb when grabbing it and not wiped off. I had been waiting nearly 2 months from the initial purchase to the replacement finally arriving to get the guitar specifically for giving lessons. I made it clear that I needed the replacement to be seen and checked before shipping because it was a tool for professional use and was promised as much. But clearly, that didn't happen, because no one in their right mind or with any respect for an instrument would let that into the shop in the first place let alone send it out as a replacement. Pathetic. When speaking to Thomann on the live chat service on returning the first guitar, I said that I wasn't sure I could trust HB again after this, and asked if they could recommend another guitar. I said I had heard great things about the Larry Carlton Sire guitars and was willing to step up to that price to secure an affordable guitar that is still quality and would be fit for teaching. They assured me that the HB Fusion's were really very good guitars but unfortunately I must have gotten a dud and they recommended I just try again. I said I was willing, but only if it was seen to first because I could not waste any more time on getting what I need for work and they agreed, set up the order and despite all of this, they sent out the guitar with that horrendous fingerboard.

Sound is fine, nothing special. Pickups have decent output and there's not too much of a volume dip with the push/pull. Paint is nice, colour looks great against the darker roasted maple and the neck feels lovely to play on. Massive shame that they could waste such nice materials with laziness, sloppiness and a rush for profit. 10 minutes extra care in the factory would lead to a far superior finished instrument.

Finally, be prepared for some poor communication if you are returning items. I was being told one thing by one person, and the opposite by another making it a very frustrating experience and heavily dampening my opinion on Thomann and in turn, making me very cautious about purchasing again. On the replacement arriving and making contact with Thomann about the state of the fingerboard, I was offered a €50 refund which I was forced to accept as I had already lost money cancelling lessons waiting for the guitar, and I simply couldn't afford to wait any longer.
