It's heavy, but it has its charms.
I was impressed by the neck profile. It's rather thin and the finish is decently done that you can slid up and down the neck very comfortably. Despite the weight of the body, the headstock is rather big and thought there might be a neck dive, but no.I was very impressed by the neck.
However the body was very thick compare to normal Fenders. So, the contour of the body feels "off" and wasn't comfortable at all. Also the body material is Northern Heavy Ash and it's already heavy and the thickness of the body adds some more weight. I was surprised how you can feel the weight, but the instrument was made well balanced so you don't feel like it's extremely heavy. You will feel the weight especially when you're playing this bass while sitting. I sure did, because my leg fell asleep every time I played sitting down.
As for the sound, it's OK. The weight of the body compliments the tone/sustain, but I think you can change the pickup and electronics to beef it up a bit.
I am not sure about the gold saddles for the bass bridge though.

OK bas for beginners
Well, it was cheap and looked nice. The sound was just OK, but there was some metallic, harsh tone on the G string even with new strings which made headphone playing rather mediocre experience . What I disliked a lot was a fretwork. I still don't understand how comes anyone would call it a final, ready to sell product. My left hand was almost bleeding after 10mins of playing. Absolutely appalling. HB should attach a hazard information for kids on it if they are not planning on to make sure frets are not sharp and sticking out. Other quality aspects were OK.

Everything perfect except one big problem
This bass is lovely to play, looks great, and the bridge pickup sounds great to me. Nice and clear. The only bad thing is that it showed up with the neck pickup just not working at all... Just no sound, and its not just me being stupid it actually doesn't work.
Why go through all the trouble of assembling and wiring up a bass and not test it for ten seconds after?
I'll take it to my tech and get it working I hope. Just bear in mind you get what you pay for.
