Excellent instrument
London customer, 03.03.2020
This is a very nice guitar; it’s also incredible value for money.

It looks stunning. The beautiful, high-gloss, black finish is complemented by the rusty, red, tortoiseshell scratch plate. Two, gold-coloured pots look great against the black of the body.

This SCJ is very light and balances well on a strap. It’s a breeze to play standing up.

The pick-up is extremely good. It rolls from one end of the tone spectrum to the other passing through all of the subtle nuances on the way. From a bright, biting treble to a nasal, jazz honk – it’s all there.

When mine arrived I needed to adjust the bridge as it (and the saddles) had all been set-to-zero. It didn’t take long and, once done, the intonation was spot on from end to end.

The beauty of the bridge is that it combines the wrap-around style with adjustable saddles for each string – that’s something that you don’t get on the top-of-the range model. And, in my opinion, that’s always been a huge disincentive when having to pay lot’s of cash.

The other advantage of this system is that it dispenses with the need for a tailpiece. This means that more of the lovely bodywork is visible and not hidden beneath strings. If you’ve got a beautiful body – flaunt it.

I changed the tuners after a few weeks because I felt they could be improved. To be fair, the Wilkinson’s that it came with aren’t too bad but, this is just a matter of personal preference, of course.

I really enjoy playing this instrument. Finding sounds with just one volume and one tone control is – for me – more challenging and rewarding than flicking toggle-switches and twirling knobs.

At the time of writing I have the Vintage Sunburst version of this on order and I have no doubt that it’ll be just as good as this one.

Can not go wrong for the price!
GonzoRoach, 11.02.2020
It's a SC-Jr, it is what it is, and feels even more high end then other versions by other brands. the neck to body joint is especially nice.
Not a lot of featues to speak of on this model as it is a Jr, the few it has however are very nice.
The pickup is nice and bright, but crunchs well with distortion.
Solid tuning stability.
Lot's of tone variation to be had when useing the volume and tone pots, nice and responsive.

I already owned the DC version of this guitar before puchasing and was just as pleased with that, so buying this was a no brainer!
My first SC-jr arrived damaged (small screw in tuning machines stipped out, no biggie). but after talking to customer serivce it was quickly replaced with zero issue, CS even sent out a replacement before reciving the damaged item. Super quick and very helpfull. 10/10 experiance and great guitar to go with.

How is this guitar possible?
Rory b, 05.05.2020
Looking at this guitar objectively without even considering the price, it is one of the most playable, inspiring guitars I've ever picked up, which after owning several guitars priced more than 5 times the amount I paid for this one, is mind blowing.

Set up is perfectly playable and well intonated out of the box, to me the pickup is voiced great, pots are noise-free and overall feel of the components is good. Only honest detractor is some ping on a couple of the tuners when turning, and a bit of tuning instability, as well as palm mutes being a bit uncomfortable on the wrap around bridge pieces where the corner of the low string saddle digs into my palm somewhat. These are probably just things that would suit a different playing style better than my own, rather than faults as such.

I fully love this guitar and can't stop playing it.

It's ok, maybe not special
Jason Htz, 13.09.2019
The SC-Junior is mostly a decent guitar for its price. The pickup is a medium output vintage type p90. It sounds fine but those who want to rock out might want to switch it out for a higher output pickup or just use a boost/overdrive, It's appropriately vintage sounding. The guitar was set up pretty well, the action could have been lowered by just a bit, but still very playable. The tuners seem to be holding tune, BUT quality control was very much lacking on the tuners. One of the screws for the third string tuner was hanging out, bent, and not even screwed in. It literally fell off when looked at. Luckily I had a screw that fit to replace it. Some of the other screws seem to just spin in their holes not tightening to a stop. They are ok for now but the tuners or at least the screws will need to be replaced if at some point they get too wobbly to hold tune. Overall I suppose it's worth its price. I do like it but the bad tuner screws make it a three star guitar at best. Other examples of this model may not have the issue.
