Hard to Blow
AndyjR 04.05.2019
I use these harmonicas in a neck brace & play a mix of styles with them, 2 or 3 nights a week & have done for 4 months now.
They sound great for melodic straight harp.. vocal lines etc, clear single note playing.
They're a very nice shape & feel very comfortable to play, no problems with facial hair getting stuck in these as it does with others.
I do find them quite hard to blow though.. compared to a lee Oskar for example, also if note bending is your thing i wouldn't recommend them.
They do seem to get clogged up very easily also & ive had to get used to leaving them in water for a while to clean them before every other gig at least.
Ill use these for a bit longer as i bought 4 together but after that it'll be a new set of Lee Oskars for me, i can't see the reeds in these lasting half as long as the Oskars do.

Love it.

This shape takes me back to my youth (60 years back).
But its the sound that thrills me most.
So glad Hohner have revived this one, the colour is a little crazy, but I can suffer that OK.
I use mostly in my neck mount while playing guitar/singing, most of all, Hohner seem to have over come all the problems that other, more expensive manufactureres suffer.
I will stay with Hohner and enjoy this little beauty.

Nice feel in the hands

I also have the marine band delux harmonica to compare the golden melody against, both are in the key of C .. It is comfortable to hold, but you do notice the difference between wood and plastic ( golden melody) has plastic blow holes.. While both have brass reeds, I find I still use the Marine Band Delux most of the time.. The carry box let's down the golden melody.. But it is still a good starting harmonica that will not break the bank. You get what you pay for in this world.. But for the money it is a god buy and gives good sounds.

Bought this to try and found it easy to play, comes in a little red box. It plays smoothly and has stayed in tune fine. Feels nicer in the hand than my cheaper ones and the tempered tuning makes it great for solo work.
