In today's drum world there is a lot of access to unimportant information and very limited to really valuable information. More specifically in bass drum technique and info there is hardly any other artist who has gathered so high-end experience and educational info and has been willing to explain it deeply to audience.
Educational value of this DVD should be 7 starts out of 5.
The difficult part is to understand all the concepts described here and subsequently apply them. But you really get an idea of what is possible.
Be noted that this DVD presents all techniques in a single drums pedal and you have to apply yourself everything in the double pedal. So although this is easy to understand there are no double pedal demonstrations.
The DVD is not only limited to techniques but covers a variety of drum topics like positioning, history of drum pedals etc... and of course with nice performances in between.
If you want to understand more about bass drums and drums in general, this is a must!

Made me change my technique, honestly!
A very good instructional Video. It really clicked with me and I could develop exercises that helped me change my foot technique in a way I had wanted to for many years. But of course, it still is you who has to put in the practice time ;-)
But this video helped me focus on aspects that made it clearer to me what I could or should change.
I suggest checking it out if you expect more than entertainment and really want to work with this educational program.
Also I should mention that I have talked to people who do not agree with Jojos concept and did not find it very helpful. Still, they recognized his effort and the well-thought-out way he puts his videos and lessons together.
By the way, it has more and longer pieces of music played by Jojo and others than the video on hand technique. So you still get a lot of entertainment, too.
Also great is the part on pedal history (I don't mind the advertisement in it).
Get it, check it out, find your own point of connection to what he is saying and start wood shedding :-)

A must-buy for all drummers
After seven years of anticipation, the Swiss-born drumming master Jojo Mayer continues his "Secret Weapons" educational series with part two ? now concentrating on foot technique. After watching the first part multiple times throughout and trying to understand the almost out-of-this-world analysis on almost every aspect of hand technique, Jojo throws in even more detailed and comprehensive collection. This 3-disc package is unique, as no one has ever gone so deep into the foot technique, breaking it into pieces and making even the most fundamental topics interesting. This is in order the drummers to dig in and make their drumming even more efficient and accurate.
Although the Part II is an informational overdose, the overall atmosphere throughout the video is light, and the lectures are often followed by an entertaining glance to the history of bass drum playing or a drum solo utilizing the latest technique.
This DVD truly is one of the best educational drumming videos out there, and with the Part I it makes a great pair, presenting hours of step-by-step analysis of drumming techniques from the most fundamental to the most sophisticated. Keep in mind that the "Secret Weapons" DVDs are headed for all, from beginner to pro, and therefore are a great buy for all drummers.

Years of practice ahead...
This is brilliant if you're into analytical analysis of technique. It'll take years to get through properly. I'd recommend taking it slow instead of watching the whole thing through as you get tempted to jump ahead and then give up. Not mad on the musical interludes myself but great to see Jojo applying the learnings.

Super entertaining foot techniques overview
I like Jojo Mayer and his way of playing the instrument. In this video school he looks into history of pedals, why they are designed the way they function etc. Really comprehensive and entertaining. Solo together with tap dancer is amazing -)
As his previous work on hands (Secret Weapons 1), this school does not include comprehensive system to practice techniques, and therefore has to be used together with exercise books (for instance, classical books on foot technique from Colin Bailey).

A really good instructional and informative DVD. He explains and demonstrates the various techniques very well. The section on the history of the bass drum pedal helps to put everything into context.
