Turn a cheap practice amp into a cracker!
fran blanc 21.09.2020
I put this speaker into an old Japanese 15 watt electric guitar practice amplifier which was made in 1980. I guarantee you have never heard of the manufacturer which is Chukyo Denshi. Among other similar Japanese knock off brands, it is a a copy of a Panasonic which was a copy of an American classic. The point being that it was cheap and poor quality and contained a car speaker of unknown origin. However the solid state circuit design was sound and I set about replacing all the transistors and electrolytic capacitors with quality components like Nichicon Muse. Along the way I repaired the tremolo function by replacing a faulty transistor. The Jensen JCH615-4 was an ideal replacement for the 4 ohm, 6" speaker of unknown origin which the Japanese put in. The best part was that I never had to drill new holes or put in new T nuts, it was a perfect fit. Now the amp sounds a lot better. The speaker makes it sound like an amp which cost hundreds of euro as opposed to dozens of euro. It's not a Fender Bassman or a Marshall Superlead but it sounds pretty meaty and the tone from the new speaker is a huge improvement. I play a USA 1992 Fender Strat with an on board pre amp and the thing chimes like a bell through the Jensen. The tone is really good. I like to chug away on it for hours as it sounds class, both in clean and distorted settings. Because it's 15watts, It will not damage your hearing or annoy the neighbours. I am now considering making a cabinet 4x6" of Jensen JCH615 speakers wired in parallel to make up a 50 watt array for my Marshall, which has a 12"x1 EVM12L. if we have another lockdown.....it's gonna happen.

Good for no distortion
Sami H. 23.11.2015
I like the sound of this speaker for anything from crystal clean sounds to light bluesy crunch but not for modern higher gain sounds.

I bought one not for a replacement but to build an isolation cab. For that the small size is good but still, the cone is smooth not ribbed/wavy like celestions. I guess that's one reason. The sound is very bright with very little bass.

Now I have it on a club-cab with one 10" and two 8" speakers and it fits the mix nicely.

I would recommend using a diffuser with this speaker, to ease the top end and to add dispersion.

I'm satisfied with this, for it is cheap and there's no real competitor for it either...
Would recommend.

Put it in my Microcube
Sean W. 01.06.2013
I got this to replace the broken speaker in my microcube
An easy swop with no cutting involved
I removed the original broken 4 inch speaker & screwed this to the back of the
Mdf speaker panel
It gets rid of the boxy sound from the 4 inch speaker
& makes the Microcube a lot more usable

Not exactly as shown
Funeral Musician 13.01.2024
These photographs most likely have not been updated for a while because the loudspeaker I ordered on January 5, 2024 was quite a bit different than the one that is pictured here. First of all, the product name appears to have been changed from JCH 6/15 4Ω to just CH 6/15 4Ω (without the letter “J” in the front). To those who are wondering, “CH” stands for “Chicago”, referring to Jensen's Chicago Series speakers, known in the US as the MOD Series. It was co-developed with MOD Electronics, a popular amplifier parts supplier. Other than the name, this is an exactly the same item as the MOD 6/15 4Ω. The second and much more noticable difference between the one pictured here and the one I received is that the “basket” (for those who do not know this, the so-called “basket” is the structural frame of the loudspeaker) is not matte black but gloss green, exactly like on Jensen's Vintage Ceramic series speakers. So, if the product you receive does not look like the one in these pictures, it does not at all mean it is a counterfeit. Now, as to the quality of manufacturing, I gave the item 5 stars, but if I could, I would have given 4.5 because the very edge of the speaker was covered in vari-sized particles of either paper or wood (I could not tell), which were stuck to the excess glue. In other words, the product was functional, but the shabby appearance of it made me think twice about keeping it.
