Excellent speaker!

The Jensen "reissues" seem to get a lot of negative reviews on various guitar forums. The general critisism seems to be that they are too bright and don't sound like the original 60 year old Jensens. A few people seem to love them though and claim that an unusually long breaking in period is why so many people dislike these speakers at first glance.

After spending almost 100 hours with this speaker I can confirm that breaking in has a HUGE impact on the sound. More so than on most other guitar speakers I have used. I'm using mine as a replacment in a Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp (but obviously use it only for guitar, not bass). It sounds absolutely fantastic. It's definitely has a sound that may not be everyones favourite but personally I love it. If I was to describe the sound (with this particular amp) it would be very close to the guitar sound of Stephen Stills on the early CSN (&Y) albums.

Highly recommended if you're into a vintage alnico sound and have the patience to break it in properly. Does it sound like an original Chicago Jensen? Well, we'll have to wait about 60 years for that... but it certainly sounds close to recordings from that era, when the old ones were still new. And that's not a bad thing at all!

Die erste Wahl für Fender Amps - GLOCKIG - SAHNIG

Viele Röhrenamps aus dem Hause Fender klingen für mein Hörempfinden zu schrill in den Höhen, was sich insbesondere beim Einsatz von Gitarren mit Singlecoils zeigt. So war das auch bei meinem neuen Blues Junior III, der werksseitig mit einem Eminence-Speaker ausgestattet ist. Ein wirklich toller Verstärker, der es mir wert ist, ihn mit einem hochwertigen Lautsprecher auszustatten.

In seiner 10''-Ausführung habe ich den Jensen bereits in einem Princeton Reverb verbaut und konnte mir so bereits vorab ein Bild machen, wie in etwa der Speakertausch auf den Klang wirkt. Bereits unmittelbar nach dem Einbau und somit noch ohne Einspielzeit klingt der Junior jetzt bereits so, wie ich das erhofft und erwartet hatte. Das schrille in den Höhen ist verschwunden und einem seidigen Glanz gewichen. Wohl dosierte und warme Mitten und pfundige Bässe kommen hinzu und so ist die Klangausbeute dieses Amps phänomenal.

Mittlerweile bin ich ein solchen Fan dieses Speakers, dass ich ihn mit verbundenen Augen sofort zumindest bei Fenderamps heraushören könnte. So eine Dynamik mit glockig sahniger Tonausbeute liefert nach meinem Dafürhalten kein anderer Speaker. Für Verstärker aus dem Hause Fender meines Erachtens die erste Wahl.

Der Jensen P12N ist für mich das absolute non-plus-ultra für den Einsatz in Fenderamps, die ja für einen hervorragenden Cleansound bekannt sind. Und dieser wird durch den Jensen nochmals aufgewertet und abgerundet. Nicht umsonst findet man diesen Speaker in den Fenderamps der ersten Stunde.
