Sounds Good
Stephen662, 15.07.2015
These monitors sound great and well balanced: I have read all the reviews and seen that some people rate these as 'over egged' &' 'bass heavy', 'flattering' etc...

I have to say, that in a nice room and positioned correctly these monitors are the business at their price point. Let's face it, £xxx is not 'cheap' by any means - so you expect results. These monitors really do sound good - and listening to my old mixes did show several things:

1/ I could hear errors that I had made - the detailed midrange was very good.
2/ I could really hear the top end, especially the hi-hats. What was smeared before was really crisp and defined here.
3/ I could enjoy mixing and listening at much lower levels due to the fullness of the sound.
4/ The bottom end extension was solid and gave a lot of information.
5/ The KRK's sound travels well; so what you hear on them will sound acceptable on other systems and vice versa; obviously this gets better as you get more familiar with them.

These monitors do run hot - I was concerned, but come winter they will cut the heating bill :)

The KRK's feature level, bass and treble controls allowing you to tailor the response; important because not everyone has a perfect room. So, if you have to put these closer to a wall than you would like - well, you can turn down the bass.

The user manual/guide is good and full of tips and suggestions regarding placement and settings.

Now, go and make some noise!

Flexibility well worth the price!
Ollie E., 26.04.2016
I bought a pair of these at the end of last year and I have waited until now to give them a review so that I could test them out properly.

The features available on these make the speakers very versatile. The various inputs make it easy to connect to whatever device you want with no problems. The controls (potentiometers) on the back have small clicks as you move them so you know how far to move them which makes matching the controls on a pair of speakers a whole lot easier. You can increase the High Frequencies and Low Frequencies using the controls on the back, and are very effective at doing the job, but generally I keep those controls flat as I adjust the EQ from my control desk. A feature that I find very useful and is often overlooked, is the stand-by power mode. If the speakers don't detect any signal going through them, after 30 minutes they will switch themselves off. This is great for me as I can turn the speakers on in the morning, and I can come and go through out the day and they'll always be ready. I now no longer need to worry about turning speakers off every time I leave the room.

The sound. I think that these speakers sound great, regardless of price, but when you consider actually how much you're paying and the quality you're getting. It's incredible. I have put these through their paces and they have held up amazingly, near enough no harmonic distortion, which, when you are doing a mix or recording, is exactly what you want.
A nice little touch is the addition of absorbing pads on the bottom to help reduce the amount of unwanted rattling and what not from whatever the speakers are sitting on.
Overall, I highly recommend these. They have a number of different uses and do their job wonderfully every time, without fail. You can certainly get your money's worth out of them!
