La Bella 20PL Jazz Flats FWSS

I ordered those for use on a solid-body guitar, for which they are not recommended. It's tricky, but it can be done, but the low E-string can snap if you bend it too far. For use on guitars with a top-loader tailpiece they can be used perfectly (I use them on a Telecaster and a Jazzmaster)

That being said. I think there isn't a better set of flatwound strings available at this moment. Polished to a glass-like finish, with a very fundamental, thuddy, punchy sound, without losing articulation or becoming muddy. If you're coming from roundwounds, they will feel quite stiffer than you're used to, but that's something all flatwounds have. Bending is a bit of a challenge with these strings, but it can be done.

If you're into flatwounds, or want to have strings as were used in the 1960's on all guitars, look no further. This set combines all the goodness of the flatwound string paired with a not too high of a tension which allows you to play fluently and without too much effort.

Bin seit einigen Jahren überzeugter Flatwound-Benutzer, fing damit an dass ich einen wärmeren bzw. weniger schrillen Ton gesucht habe (damals noch auf Solidbodies), und auch mehr und mehr Jazz gespielt habe. Dann auf der Telecaster machten Flatwounds erstaunlich viel Spaß, der Klang wird ja gar nicht mulmig mit Flats, sondern einfach weniger scharf und klirrig. Und dass die Geräusche beim Sliden weg sind - einmal dran gewöhnt, gibt es kaum ein zurück.

Nun aber zu den LaBella Jazz Flats. Habe intensiv mit D'Addario Chromes und mit Thomastik Infeld Jazz Swing verglichen, auf einer Tele, einer Semi Hollow (ES-Type von Eastman) und auf verschiedenen Archtops. Die Chromes sind m.E. die mit dem höchsten Saiten-Zug, und die am wenigsten Obertöne produzieren. Geht mit den Chromes, aber es geht eben besser. Die Thomastik Jazz sind schon super Saiten, haben einen eher dünnen Stahl-Kern und viel Nickel außenrum. Spielen sich recht weich, angenehm und mit schönem Oberton.
Die LaBella Jazz Flats sind nun ebenso wie die Chromes reine Stahlsaiten - spielen und klingen aber anders. Die LaBella's sind wesentlich "smoother" im Anfassen, also sehr, sehr angenehm, irgendwie glatter als die Chromes. Und im Ton sind sie für Jazz richtig gut, finde ich. Sie sind den Thomastik Jazz ähnlich, "schmatzen" so schön bei Akkorden ohne zu verschmieren, und single-note Lines klingen super schön und rund.

Zusammenfassung:
Insgesamt sind die LaBella's leider etwas teuer, aber ich denke sie werden künftig meine erste Wahl für meine Jazz-Gitarren. Tolle Bespielbarkeit und ihr warmer klarer Ton gefallen mir sehr gut. Sehr dicht gefolgt von den Thomastik Infeld Jazz Swing.

La Bella NY USA, ma le origini, si intuisce già dal nome, sono italiane. Salle (abruzzo) era la patria degli avi. Trasferiti in NY USA hanno continuato a costruire corde in modo artigianale per la cura anche se industriale per la mole della produzione. Un tempo si faceva fatica a trovarle in Italia ora con e-commerce tutto è facile. Queste corde sono lisce, lucide, sufficientemente morbide nonostante il calibro 11-50. Appena montate sono belle e confortevoli al tatto. Acceso l'amplificatore il suono è molto piacevole, caldo, molto buono per il jazz, Ottime per gli accordi e per i soli. Il bending è facile e morbido sia con le corde basse o alte. Nei pezzi blues vanno bene ugualmente ed anche nel pop lento. Sull'Heavy metal non ci siamo. Le corde sono curatissime confezionate assieme in un involucro plastico a tenuta per l'umidità. Il prezzo è alto come per tutte le corde flat da jazz. Mai risparmiare per il jazz solo corde italiane Dogal, Galli o di origini italiane come queste. Corde provate su Gibson ES 335 e Ampli Peavey classic 30
