Larry Carlton T7 FM NT

Received today after few weeks of excitement. Probably one of the first client to receive the guitar if not the first. Haven't seen yet any pics or reviews in anywhere. Even Sire homepage says - Goming soon!

I got the 3 stars out of 5. If it wasn't Larry's signature, I would of given 2. Here's why.
Out of the box:
sound as far the strings which made proper sound, seems to be promising but, come on, this is defenately not the quality of building and setup the instrument sigend by Larry Carlton!!! There is absolutely no quality control. Couple of string do not sustain at all (hopefully fixable); purely cut nut (causing the previous problem, hopefully); action is as at my acoustic has but all strings clatter anyway (hopefully fixable, not sure); nut cut is so high that first 2-3 frets are way out of tune when played, specially chord (hopefully fixable by guitar tech); intonation - its was not even close (it is fixable but 1-st string is on max already!); whammybar - some strange noices and feels (hopefully fixable); Frets are well rounded at the edges, which is tproper finish on neck; frets are polished very purely and unevenly, scraching hardly (fixable); blade switch has more like 7 stops insted 5 which is clearly defective part (have to be replaced guitar tech); volume pot is crackling and the open end is jumping up a long step from 9 to 10; tone pot is quite smooth and pleasent to work with; output socket was comletely loose...

Overall impression out of the box - looks very nice, plays (very) bad!

This is not the guitar I would like to receive after long time of waiting and hoping!
To make this guitar completed, there is quite a bit work to do, parts to replace and money to spend. Not sure I'm willing to do that.

*Zacznę od tego, że każdy doświadczony gitarzysta dobrze wie, że każda nowa gitara wymaga regulacji, ustawienia pewnych niuansów (mostek, menzura, pręt, wysokość przystawek, siodełko i inne), personalizacji pod preferencje muzyka (nierzadko nawet drogie gitary tego potrzebują). Dopiero po wykonaniu tych rzeczy i założeniu ulubionych strun można trafnie ocenić instrument.

Moją mam już 3 tydzień i zdążyłem ją ogarnąć i zagrać na niej kilka prób.

Jakość wykonania pod względem lutniczym jest na bardzo wysokim poziomie, korpus ale najbardziej gryf sprawiają wrażenie instrumentu z wysokiej półki (np. Suhr Classic T). Klon pieczony na gryfie wygląda super. Gryf jest z typu średnio-cienkich, wygodny a zaokrąglone krawędzie nie przeszkadzają. Siodełko fabrycznie wysoko ale jak wiadomo, lepiej niech sobie każdy spiłuje niż zrywać i podkładać. Klon falisty na topie w połączeniu z ciemniejszą olchą wyglądają drogo :-)
Fajnie, bo przy dość grubych strunach (11-48) i średniej akcji, gitara jest miękka i nie brzęczy na progach.
Pokażcie mi gitarę za 2700zł z blokowanymi kluczami.
Most ruchomy działa jak przystało na fenderowski typ tremolo, czyli nie trzyma stroju tylko wtedy, gdy go zmasakrujesz. Mój zablokowałem, bo strojenie to dla mnie mus.
Pomysł na 5-cio pozycyjny przełącznik przy 2 humbuckerach jest fajny. Fajny też dla tego, że można przelutowując kabelki wybrać własne customowe ustawienia. Ja zamieniłem pozycję 4 z single-coil neck na humbucker neck-single-coil bridge i jest znacznie więcej "mięsa".
Fajnie chodzą potencjometry volume i tone, ani za lekko ani za ciężko.
Same przystawki grają ze średnią głośnością i charakterem zbliżonym do PAF, czyli bardzo równo. Jeśli, ktoś posługuje się głównie czystym brzmieniem, czyli tak jak ja, może odebrać brzmienie jako zbyt jasne, ale od czego jest pot. tone czy treble we wzmaku.
Przyznaję, że ogólny zachwyt nad relacją cena-jakość Sire jako producenta jest uzasadniony. Miałem w ostatnich 16 latach kilka telecasterów ze średniej półki Fendery MiM, MiI, Squiery czy Schecter i mimo wyższej ceny nie ma co porównywać ich do Sire. Good job.

Nachdem ich im Urlaub in der Bretagne in einen Kleinstadt zufällig über zwei dieser Larry-Carlton-Modelle Modelle "gestolpert" bin, habe ich in allen nationalen und internationalen Foren und Testberichten gestöbert, was es mit dieser Serie auf sich hat.
Als ich dort das Schwestermodell - die Strat Sire S7 und die klassische Tele T7 -dort in der Hand hatte, dachte ich es seien Edelnachbauten dieser Originale - moderne Locking Mechaniken, modernes 2-Punkt Tremolo, Knochensattel, Abalone Inlays, sehr hochwertige Verarbeitung, guter twangy Sound OHNE Amp (wichtig!) - ich verortete sie in die Liga von Charvel, Jackson etc. ~1600 € Preiskategorie - also ich war mir sicher eine Boutique- und keine BudgetGitarren in der Hand zu halten! Da kein Preisschild dran war, fragte ich den Verkäufer nach dem Preis und war - gelinde gesagt - geschockt und suchte fortan nach dem Fehler, der mir wohl bei der Bewertung untergelaufen sei. Ich muss dazusagen: Ich bin Profi und habe schon hunderte Modelle in der Hand gehabt (...) eingestellt, etc.
Zuhause angekommen ging die Recherche weiter...
Also: ich habe den Kauf bis heute nicht bereut - und bei dem Preis zweimal nicht. Das Einzige was man gegenüber einer teuren Boutique Gitarre eventuell voraussetzen muss:
Im Auslieferungszustand musste ich den Halsstab und die Tremolofedern deutlich nachziehen, danach war die Saitenlage einwandfrei - aber das muss man bei freischwebenden Tremolos bei Wechsel der Saitenstärke auch machen... Bundreinheit musste ich kaum nachregulieren - auch alles in der Varianz dessen, was unterschiedliche Saiten(stärken) ausmachen können. Die Pickups sind guter Mainstream mit wenig bis gar kein Rauschen.
Fazit: Ich kann keinen signifikanten Unterschied zu Gitarren feststellen, die derzeit zum großen Teil im Bereich von 1000-2000 Euro existieren. Also für mich eine echte Kampfansage an den gesamten Markt in diesem Preissegment. Eine solche Qualität zu so einem Preis? Sowas habe ich in über 30 Jahren noch nicht erlebt.
