Entry-level laser with exciting colours

The EL-230RGN MKII from specialist manufacturer Laserworld is an entry-level model designed with a particularly narrow scan angle and relatively low power rating, making it ideal for smaller rooms. The range of available colours includes an extra-bright blue, while various dynamic and static effects such as wave and tunnel effects are possible, perfect for creating the right atmosphere at parties and in bars and clubs. The Laserworld EL-230RGN MKII has all of the necessary controls on board, in addition to which it can also be controlled via DMX, a feature that belies its affordable price. The housing has four rubber feet to allow it to be placed securely on a solid surface as well as a metal bracket to allow it to be suspended for a more space-saving installation. The scope of delivery additionally includes a power cable, an interlock connector, and a pair of keys.

Professional effects included

The Laserworld EL-230RGB MKII puts seven colours including white and Royal Blue at the user's disposal, the latter appearing particularly bright thanks to its wavelength of 445nm. A range of different operating modes can be manually selected using the DIP switches located on the rear of the housing: When the device is installed as a stand-alone unit, for example, the user can select Automatic or Sound mode, the latter of which creates lighting patterns to match the beat of the music. Operating the EL-230RGB MKII via DMX opens up a much wider range of creative options, which can be easily accessed during the party or event using a lighting controller.

Ready to get the party started

Users looking for a stand-alone solution to add some exciting lighting effects to their home party setup without needing prior experience of lighting technology are sure to appreciate the variety offered by the Laserworld EL-230RGB MKII. And those who choose to explore the additional advantages of an optional DMX control have nine channels with around 50 effects at their disposal, including layers, tunnels, fences, and waves that can be augmented with variable scan speeds and zoom settings on both the X and Y axes. Bar and club operators can suspend the EL-230RGB MKII in restricted spaces using the included bracket, while mobile DJs can use the device's music mode to easily add a visual dimension to their performances. Last but not least, the Laserworld EL-230RGB MKII is highly suitable for touring thanks to its modest weight of just 2.6kg.

About Laserworld

Laserworld specialises in the production and distribution of lasers for the events industry. From its Swiss headquarters on Lake Constance, the company, founded in 2007, is now active worldwide. One of the company's most important goals is to flexibly and rapidly adapt its products to customer requirements. The Laserworld group of companies also includes tarm laser technologies (tlt) GmbH and Ray Technologies GmbH, which manufacture high-end lasers and develop innovative solutions.

Before the guests arrive...

Before putting the Laserworld EL-230RGB MKII into action for the first time, it is advisable to play the music at its intended volume and then set the microphone sensitivity to the required level on the front of the device. If the unit is installed in a suspended fashion, an optionally available safety cable should be fitted using the eyebolt on the rear of the housing. In larger locations (or to simply intensify the effect in a smaller location), two EL-230RGB MKII units can be operated together in master-slave mode, which is possible both in DMX mode and during stand-alone operation. In the latter case, the user must choose a unit to function as the master, set the DIP switches to Sound mode or Automatic mode, then set the other unit to slave mode. The DMX output of the master unit must then be connected to the input of the slave unit using a standard DMX cable, and the lighting effects of both will then be synchronised. The user can achieve even more impact by adding a hazer to the setup if desired.

so great for the trippy rave look of course but also for flat line effects to use in theatrical moments. great versatility for something that isn't an image or text generator. love the colors!

Lot of music for a little money, but something is missing
marek7554 18.12.2021
The quality of the laser as it is, is perfect, but the functions are not.

The worst thing about the laser is - You can not program any of your custom sequences in FreeStyler, because the is not any "dot" or very short line in static patterns. The next thing is, you can not rotate them, and thats the main point of this review.

If you want to use it as dynamic laser, and you plan to use just saved effects, then it is good opportunity. But if you want to program custom sequences then it is not the best solution.
