Maui 11 Mix saves on extra hardware and your spine!
19.02.2017
I bought this unit because I wanted a line array unit which had plenty of punch. The Bose L1 compact is nice, but it does not have enough oomph to use in a pub gig with 100 people. The build quality of the Maui unit is very good and it feels very rugged. The speaker column slides into the base unit with a reassuring slow "clunk". I use an acoustic guitar through a pedal into the high Z input, my voice through a vocal processor (for reverb) into the vocal channel, and a drum machine into the line input. The sound is very clear and loud at 3/4 volume on the master. When playing and close up the unit, about 6 feet, you cannot hear the base, but at distances over this the sound welds together. So I have got used to the bright sound of the guitar when I am playing.I asked several people in the pub last night when I played, and they all thought the sound and balance was good and there was sufficient volume. I am impressed by this unit, it saves weight and does the job. Just be aware that the sound you hear when performing is not the same as that which the audience hears and you might need to use the line output to a monitor for more balanced fold back.

Improved gigging performances .
Boistrous, 17.04.2018
I bought this having used a Maui G2 11 to replace my existing P.A. It was 2 hundred pounds cheaper but pretty much the same level of performance . The beauty of a column system is you get a superior spread of sound with less apparent volume close up but at the same time good sound level and quality at the back of the room. You can hear yourself so can sing in tune easier, There is less to carry ,ie no speaker poles. I don't feel I need more than one but a pair of these would pretty much cover any gig situation. I highly recommend it as gigging option for a band in a medium sized gig up to 100 people or , bigger if using a pair . I use a mixing desk into 1 x MAUI mix 11. The only benefits of the G2 version are that the column splits into 2 for transport , the steel pins are 4 in number rather than 2 , for increased stability and the G2 has an extra 6.5" woofer in the bass department
