UPDATED! : firmware and software updates for this product have greatly improved this product. 100 presets can now be saved to the amp, a huge improvement on the original limit of 4. However, these are only easily accessible 'on the fly' if you also have the Line6 FBV Shortboard, which I would highly recommend.

Bluetooth connectivity can still be hit and miss at times, but otherwise most issues have been addressed.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This product has a lot of potential. Unfortunately Line6 have been very slow in updating the software/firmware in order to realise this potential.

The hardware itself is very suitable as a home practice amp - which was my intention when I bought it. However, I wouldn't think it's robust enough to carry around for gigging - I'm not sure how well the plastic grill would protect the speakers. Overall, very versatile for acoustic and electric amplification - very close to a FRFR system.

The problem lies in it's integration with the software - which is it's unique selling point.

First of all, the Bluetooth connectivity can be very hit and miss. This was supposed to have been addressed in a firmware update, but I still regularly experience connectivity issues. You can easily end up wasting 5-10min of 'playing time' trying to get the app to connect with the amp !

Another problem is that you can currently only save 4 presets on the amp - even with the addition of the recommended FBV shortboard. This is non-sensical for this type of amp. The whole selling point is the ease with which you can match tones - but if you have to rely on your iOS device (and a dodgy Bluetooth connection) if you want to use any more than 4 tones set ups. Line6 have promised to increase the number of presets to 100 via a firmware release, but I have no idea when that might arrive.

Thirdly, integration of the FBV boards is incomplete. If you change effects via the board you don't see the change reflected in the displayed signal chain in the app (although the effect change can be heard). This makes it confusing to know at a glance what effects are active.

My overall feeling is that this product was rushed out for NAMM 2014. It has great potential, but it hasn't been fully implemented yet. I recommend either waiting until a significant firmware update is released to address these issues... or wait 'til they release AmplifiHD best year !!!
