Best Sire bass so far

I have owned V7, P7 Vv7 fretless, M7 and M2. All of them were good basses, but when Sire finally release a passive PJ and on top of that a short scale I just had to buy it. It ended up with me selling my USA Fender P as I do not see it getting any gigging time now.

I had to adjust the action and intonate the bass somewhat (it came pretty good, but not perfet) but after that was done this thing is pure gold. It surpasses my previous favourite the P7. Sound very good, perfect neck and this thing practically plays it self. Again, this is by far my favourite of all Sire basses.

This bass is as cool and smooth as the mint ice cream it's coloured after. Build is superb, hardware is great (although I am tempted to replace the bridge per my preference, however the stock bridge is spot on for the vintage vibe their going for here). The pickups have great output but no appreciable noise. The neck is heavenly. It's light- mine weighs about 7 lbs 12 ounces. Now the tone. Well every time I play it I discover a new sound I can get out of it. In some aspects of the tone it out-Fender's a Fender. I put flat wounds on it and it growls like a rabid wolverine, with tone off it gets velvety smooth jazz tones. The j pickup has some exceptional output which goes contrary to a lot of the bridge pickups in this configuration. The j style body combined with the short scale gives you great ergonomics as you can post your thumb on the p pickup which is right in line with your right leg (really easy to maintain good posture). If you want vintage tones without the back pain then this little bass if for you. Aside from the bass Thomann has amazing pricing I got this bass shipped to Canada for less even with duties then the sticker price for anyone selling it in my own country who offer free shipping. Thomann also recommended a gig bag for it and this was wise because for 30 Canadian dollars I got a gig bag that beats 80$ gig bags I can get here. Will not be the last business I do with Thomann!

Great bass, and very smooth buying process

I purchased this bass because I have rather short fingers, and would get discomfort playing a regular scale bass for long. For the price of this bass, you’d expect a much lower quality instrument, but no, this bass looks, feels and plays premium. Not to mention it’s so easy on your fingers, due to the shorter scale, without much (if at all) compromises to the sound.

Special shoutout to the Thomann team who inspected, set up and shipped out the bass to me with incredible speed. I live in Canada, placed order on April 2nd with the regular, non-express delivery option, and received it April 21st. A bit of a long wait you might say, but it did travel all the way from Europe to North America, and arrived in pristine condition with everything set up. The team was also very quick with emails responses, answering all my questions within a single business day.

All in all, highly recommended, if you’re looking for a shorter scale bass from a reputable, reliable seller, this is it.

Plays and sounds great. A little neck dive, but it doesn’t decrease the fun playing this bass. I had it shipped to NYC, and it came in 5 days. Great service.
