Maximum features at a mini price

The Millenium MX422 Standard Set is a fully equipped drum kit with features you wouldn’t normally expect at this price point. The 22" bass drum, 10", 12", and 16" toms, and 14" x 5.5" wooden snare drum all feature a multi-ply construction that combines birch and poplar wood and form the backbone of the kit. The cymbal set consists of a 14" hi-hat, 16" crash, and 20" ride. To complete the picture, all of the necessary hardware is provided, including a drum stool. And since looks are just as important as features, the MX422 is available in two eye-catching finishes.

Selected woods and professional features

The developers certainly paid a great deal of attention to detail when designing the MX422. The bass drum’s wooden hoops with colour-matching inlays, the tom fixtures equipped with ball joints and, finally, the highly reliable and functional hardware, all give the impression of a much more expensive drum set. The drum memory locks located in key positions, the neatly screwed-on badges, and the Blue Lining finish – reminiscent of classic vintage drum sets – certainly add to that impression. Last but not least, the fact that the nine-ply shells also include multiple layers of birch as well as poplar is another real surprise in this price range.

The MX422 is a real chameleon

If you are just starting out on the drums and are looking for a complete yet inexpensive drum kit, the Millenium MX422 is the perfect choice. The most popular drum and cymbal sizes have been selected and cater for many different styles, including Rock, Blues, and Soul music. The 22" bass drum and 16" floor tom provide a solid low end, while the 10" and 12" hanging toms take care of the high register. The 14" x 5.5" snare drum is a real all-rounder and is equipped with a robust strainer mechanism and a 20-wire snare. The components are all adjustable and can be easily adapted to suit players of different heights.

About Millenium

Millenium is one of Thomann’s in-house brands and has been an integral part of the store’s range since 1995. More than 800 products – from drums and percussion through to accessories such as microphone stands, racks, and recording workstations – bear the Millenium label. These products are made by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands. Since they are imported directly from the factory without any further distributors or sales companies, they can be sold at particularly attractive prices. Incidentally, one in every four Thomann customers has already purchased at least one Millenium product.

Cool looks for rehearsal room and stage

The Millenium MX422 Standard Set comes with everything you need to start drumming, at a price that many drummers would spend on a snare drum alone. This kit will suit both children and adults and is an ideal instrument for practising at home and for the rehearsal room. Moreover, the MX422 is fully stage-ready thanks to its double-braced stands and sturdy mounts, which can be returned to their original position in seconds using the memory locks during set-up. And its eye-catching finish also means that the MX422 will look nothing short of awesome under the spotlight.

I bought this kit without any expectations from it just so I can jam with my friends and practice until I get better with the drums. I am recording and mixing dude so I can recognize the good sound and this has impressed me for what it's worth. Trough the years I have assembled many kits in my studio so that part and tuning is no challenge for me. However, I got not very well built pieces. Here are a few things that could have been a lot better:

-toms must be way more circular (mine are eliptic-shaped lol)
-screws on the one leg holder of the floor tom were really untightened
-screws for the snare wire were damaged and I couldn't have untightened them
-screws for the strainer were really poorly tightened
-wood layers on 10" tom have unglued
-the wood where top drumhead should sit on 12" tom or floor tom (don't remember anymore) was heavily damaged for about 2cm of the radius

Hardware is actually really nice, no complaints there, tho if you start to practice really hard, you will want to change (in order): pedal, throne and hh-stand.

I have read reviews of this kit and the major thing that people have complained about are cymbals. My experience is:
the ride is good enough to start gigging so is the hi-hat, but in order to get the crash sound like a crash, you need to hit it hard and it will still be poor and you will want to change it first if you want to do some gigging with this.

So, the pros and cons:
PROS:
-price, definitely...if you tune this right and fix some issues like i had, this thing will sing!!!
-you will get pretty nice hardware (even those locking thingies)
-every piece in this kit is really good sounding and not just for it's price
-after a few days of improving this kit, you can do gigs with it or even record it

CONS:
-for this price, it is expected that it will not be THE finest made kit and you have to deal with it
-crash cymbal is at least hillarious

RATINGS EXPLAINED:
total: good...because it is
features: very good...this has everything that you need - even to make some money on gigs with this thing
sound: very good...not just for it's price, shells do make some nice sounds and they resonate well
quality: okay...let's be real, some things really need to be worked on

Conclusion: yeah, this kit has it's imperfections, but you will actually get more than you pay for...with just a bit of working around on some problems previously mentioned. So, if you are even thinking about buying something this cheap, this will get you satisfied.
Hope this helps you,
Cheers

Great Quality Product

Fantastic drum kit! Very cost effective with a lot of good features. Drums are of very high quality. Bear in mind that stock cymbals and heads don't sound great though. It's a fantastic starting point and certainly great kit for gigs after some investments into heads and cymbals. I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to other drummers.

Good drum set

We use it for drumming classes and it's good for the purpose. The sound isn't great but not bad either.
Easy to assemble and well built.
If you're a beginner you're gonna spend quite some time playing it before feeling the need to get something better.

This kit is quite good for the value, great sounding toms and a decent snare. However the cymbals are basically useless. But other than that, incredible
