Good but not perfect
emirunalan, 07.06.2019
After using it a few months, I am a bit disappointed. It is perfect for controlling your session but it has some flaws.
The colours of pads are perfect for following your clips in session view. But its mixer page is not perfect for adjusting your volume, effects or pan. But you can use it to mute, solo or record arm any track. The pads are not velocity sensitive so finger drumming is not perfect with this one. And you need to press hard. The main thing that annoys me is this product do not have a step sequencer. I know it is not a surprise but it should not be this hard to put a step sequencer in it.(Previous models have third party drivers for step sequencer.) I also had some driver issues a few times.(I use Windows 10) Would I recommend it? If you want to use it live and if you have other controllers to sport it, like Launch Control XL or nanoKONTROL etc. You should buy it. If you think to use it at your studio for production, it would not be a wise choice, there are better options to use at your studio in my opinion.

Fixed mapping, unpractical outside Ableton
turn-the-knobs, 12.01.2018
Despite the large number of pads that you get on the Launchpad Mk2, these are fixedly mapped to certain MIDI notes. You get 4 predefined mappings (Session, User1, Use2 and Mixer) that make sense only in Ableton. In the session mode, for example, the first row outputs from 11 to 18 (B-2 to F#-1) while the next row starts from 21 (A-1) which means the notes 19 and 20 are unaccessible. There are cheaper products on the market where you can map any note or CC to any pad/knob and save your customised mappings as default. None of these are available for this product. Apart of that the product seems pretty stable.

The best device for Ableton Live users
kiddgatilho, 11.04.2017
It's a great controller.

Well built, and although it's made of plastic, it feels sturdy and consistent. The pads feel great for finger drumming and playing notes.

It's 100% compatible with Ableton, as you may have know, meaning it launches clips, plays instruments, controls the mixer (volume, pan, sends and returns).

I use the Launchpad LIVE to trigger clips and one shots, and in the STUDIO to organize ideas and clips, and see where the song goes.

Recommend this if you use Ableton and you want a hands-on dedicated controller for Live and Studio use (but don't want/need to spend more cash on the Push).

It does what it needs to do
Bracka, 28.12.2017
Better than what I expected! I already have some Novation items, which are somewhat plastic-ish, but great value for money. But this Launchpad is in my opinion better build. The plastic feels more sturdy than compared to the Launch Control XL. So overall, if you know why you are buying this, it is a great product!
