Beautiful Guitar, Awful Sound

This is a lovely looking instrument. Unfortunately, the strings sound dead and lifeless and the guitar has terrible resonance, which is surprising for an extended range guitar. I am also extremely disappointed in how poorly the instrument holds its tuning. I have had the guitar for nearly two weeks, which should be plenty of time for the neck to adjust to any changes in humidity as well as for the (presumably) new strings to set. Still, I have to re-tune all of the strings (which go a semi-tone flat) every time I pick up the guitar.

I am a predominantly 8-string player and I've been looking for acoustic guitars to match that range and I was nicely surprised to find this model at a very affordable price and when it arrived, I was even more surprised how well made it is and how good it sounds.
I must admit that I've never been a fan of piezo systems but the one that they integrated produces a sound that I even use for recordings along with the microphone I normally use for acoustic guitars.
I think it's a very good deal altogether.

Ne sonnait pas au départ

La guitare reçue est assez bien finie au niveau du vernis.

Pour ce qui est de la qualité musicale et la finition du manche on peut repasser.
Plusieurs points sont à noter :
- Les notes frisaient de la 9ème case jusqu'à la 11ème sur les cordes de Sol3 - Si2 - Mi1
- Les notes frisaient aussi de la 3ème à la 6 corde sur les cordes Mi6 - La5
- La corde de La5 est totalement étouffée. Puissance environ 50% inférieure aux autres.
- Des aigus ternes et sans tenue.
- La guitare n'apportait aucun justesse dans le son, il n'était pas possible d'accorder la guitare pour jouer des cordes à vide en même temps que jouer à la 12ème case. Et la tenue de l'accord était horrible.

Remède :
J'ai regardé attentivement la guitare et je me suis aperçu que les frettes n'étaient pas posées correctement et dépassaient de quelques 10èmes de millimètre, par chance le manche n'était pas déformé. J'ai donc décordé la guitare, sorti un une cale en bois et le marteau pour ajuster le tout et refretter la guitare.
J'en ai profité pour huiler la touche, changer les cordes et utiliser un jeu de corde Pyramid 7 cordes.

Miracle, la guitare sonne juste avec des aigus en place, une corde de la5 au même niveau que les autres, et plus aucun note frisée.

Ortega bürgt für Qualität. Thomann nicht minder! Excelentes Timing, sichere Verpackung und prompte Auslieferung. Telephonberatung kompetent, freundlich und viel Zeit und erscheine ich dort höchstselbst in B. werde ich von den hochprofessionellen und kompetenten Kundenberatern der Guitarrenabteilung aufs beste unter-stütz, die zu mir passende Guitarre zu finden und zu testen , alle Zeit der Welt.
Der RCE 159-8 hat mich vom ersten Spielen an überzeugt.
2 Saiten mehr bedürfen der Übung in Umgang und Stimm-ung ist ein treffliches Abenteuer. Der Klang übertraf meine kühnsten Erwartungen. Brillianter Diskant, ausgegliche-ner Mittelsound und satte Bässe. Dennoch ein warmer runder Klang, bestens geeignet für die Klassik-, Barock- und Renaicance - Stückchen die ich spiele.
Eine Erleichterung ist das Tiefe D. So komme ich jetzt ohne Umstimmen zurecht. Das war der Hauptgrund mir dieses Instrument schenken zu lassen. Insgesamt deutlich lauterer Klang als der meiner div. 6- Saitigen Guitarren anderer Hersteller. Mechanik und Verarbeitung vom feinsten. Ich bin wie immer bei Thomann und mit diesem Produkt hochzufrieden es ist zweifelsfrei ein Gewinn. Kann ich besten Gewissens weiterempfehlen.
