National sounding guitar for a third of the cost...
beaverHausen 31.03.2015
After having a Regal RC3, Republic #505 and a HotRod Steel I can say all of these guitars originate from a chinese manufacturer and are specced to the re-sellers specifiactions.

They all feel familiar and share common features, but vary in quality.

The paramount is the best out of the four guitars I have (briefly)owned!

Continental spun cone, bone nuts and rosewood bound fretboard are common on the other models but this one has metal machine heads (nice touch) and seems to have been setup with more attention to detail than the others mentioned.

Plays well in open tuning and although I have some fret buzz on the 1st E string, I believe this is easily resolved by upgrading to a heavier gauge of string.

I believe this guitar comes fitted with 13 - 54's (not confirmed by thomann staff) which although are good for finger style and some slide work are a little thin for slide... which is why I bought a resonator in the first place.

Frets are finished off nicely, nice slight radius curve to the neck and the finish of the guitar is awesome - although it does show up your sweaty fingerprints.

The sound is as near authentic as I could possibly get without spending three times as much.

Only thing I could complain about, is that it doesn't come with the case advertised in the photos. It comes in a semi hard canvas case which is OK, but not the brown leather looking hard case like the one in the photos.

Still, I'm happy with it and will be hanging onto it.

Genialer Reso-Sound.
FranzKa 16.06.2014
