Good sound & volume, great buy!
Drap 04.07.2017
For this price the cab is hard to beat. Detailed, balanced sound, surprising amount of lows for the 5" speakers. Nice volume for the size.
I highly recommend it.

Sound:
Clean, round, balanced, very fast sound. Nice treble, defined mids and somewhat surprising lows considering the 5" speakers. Not ultra hifi, but not vintage 1x15" sound either (although with some EQ you could get surprisingly close to either).

Use
I use it in a jazz band (drums, bass, guitar, sax). Play it w/ an Aguilar TH500 amp and US Lakland basses. Sounds great in this setting and it keeps up with the drums in volume.
KEEP IN MIND however this is a 4x5" cab. For a rock band with 2 guitars and loud drums to compete with this probably isn't the one.

Comparison w/ other cabs
The Phil Jones easily holds its own against the few other lightweight cabs I tried/owned. Only one sounded better: the Aguilar SL112 (to me THE perfect cab). The PJ still sounds great though, and at a good price.

Pros:
- lightweight & small size
- clear sound & big volume for this size

Cons:
- (none so far)

IB
Great little cab!
Ivan Badger 09.09.2020
Solid build, yet not heavy. Looks very cute. Sounds great, strong mids, lower and upper. High end rolls off around 14khz, which for me, is perfect. No nasty 'tweeter hiss'. Can easily get loud enough for smaller or mellower gigs. To get very low bass frequencies, you'll need to dial in and boost low end on your preamp. It can handle the lows fairly well, really well considering the size and weight. I wish I'd had a couple of these years ago. Recommended.

A
Massive!!
Anonymous 06.07.2016
I bought the speaker because of the small size in the beginning, I needed something easy to carry in the metro or bus with my bass and my TC BH550 from a rehearsal room to another. First time I played with it I was surprised about the power and the definition, no matter about the size it deliver all the basses and the mids and the high frequencies a bass player will need. I had many different speakers in many different sizes and power before and this one is in my opinion the one that reproduce better the sound of my bass.
Maybe In the future I will buy another one of I will need more volume playing in larger stages.
I highly recommend Phil Jones products to every bass player!!

M
Small light and loud beast
MarkBNL 31.01.2024
It is light, small and can be very loud. It handles my 5 string with ease. It needs a little boost in the mid-high/high region to sound to my liking. I put a set of wheels under it to make it even more easy to move.
