Good interface
Sashiimi, 03.05.2018
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
This is a good interface, however, mine came with the 48v channel sending out 80v for some reason and I couldn't plug two 48v dependant devices without it starting to make noise.

You should have a powered usb hub for this interface just to be sure it receives all the juice it needs to function properly.

The audio quality is good, preamps are fairly quiet and it is really really well build.

if it wasn't for the fact that it came broken in the first place, I'd easily give it 4+ stars, however, seeing it as a recurrent problem online, I'm afraid I cannot.

The drivers sometimes bug and I'm left with no sound and have turn the interface on and off.

If you're planing to use this with a guitar, you should have a DI Box because with RG421's quantum pickups, on the lowest gain possible, it still clips slightly.

Overall, it's a worth considering interface, with great build and sound quality. However, i'd recommend you checking out a newer presonus one or a Focusrite interface if the price difference doesnt bother you. Look for one with a pad button if you plan to use a guitar.

Get this blue baby, you'll love it
simeon9446, 23.02.2020
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
This blue baby is one of the best of its kind. And here's why. It's compact, it's metal and for the god's sake, it's BLUE!! What I like very much the placement of inputs and knobs. At the front face, there are two inputs for XLR or 6.5 mm jack. So you can easily connect your microphone and/or instrument. There's a knob for controlling headphones and there's a knob for controlling speakers. And also there is a knob that can control mix between inputs and playback. Good product, good price, I am glad I've bought it. Well spent money. Definitely recommend.

Great Device!
JohnyS, 23.11.2019
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
I can't think for a better device that a beginner producer could start with. Except the devices features - 2 inputs, 2 midi (in and out) and outputs - it comes with Studio One Artist 4 which is so far is proven do be a really easy to handle software for a beginner. Also, the device's serial number gives you a variety of plugins, instruments and effects which are all you need to start producing music.

Nice simple interface with MIDI.
Riccardo D., 24.09.2018
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
The AudioBox USB 86 is good. No boutique preamps of course, but it's built like a small tank and the sound is clean without audible artifacts. Most importantly for me, it has MIDI. That's why I chose it over similarly priced Focusrite products.

One small gripe I have is with the gain knobs. Their physical arrangement is less than immediate to grasp (I admit this is a minor issue). Also, I don't like the input/playback balance knob. I would have preferred to have separate potentiometers, or at least a signal path/mixer application in the audio card driver bundle (RME or MOTU style).

The software that comes with the card isn't bad at all, but Studio One is a crippled version that won't load VST/VSTi's, making it almost useless as a real production DAW. The provided plugins are really good - but remember, not VST/VSTi format, so you can only use them with this limited version of Studio One. Lexicon wouldn't even reply to my many messages asking for authorization info, so I wrote it off. Don't count on Lexicon plugins with this bundle.

Overall, I'm very happy with this card. I use it mainly for small edits on a secondary computer, with little recording (quick fixes on direct bass, synth noises). It works quite well, and I would choose it again if I only needed 2in/2out.

Slightly disapointed
Samuel Burns, 18.04.2018
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
The device itself is great but the Studio One (artist version) that comes with it is not the best. Firstly it doesn`t allow latency to be set no lower than 10mS, moreover it doesn`t allow .mp3 input tracks or recordings to be extracted as such. For the money, no i don`t find this acceptable. The quality of the recordings itself is very clean and transparent and some features are handy but the aformentioned latency issues kill all the fun for me trying to record my bass.

Solid audio interface
the_metaleon, 21.12.2019
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
Bought this interface a while back, it's been consistently good, no glitches in the audio, no connectors issues, easy to use, clear sound, and Presonus drivers work in many DAWs without any problem.

The only minor issue that someone may have (I haven't had this issue, because of my setup), is that the headphone output is in the back, and it might be inconvenient for some setups where you can't have easy access to the back of the interface.

In conclusion, this is an inexpensive and brilliant interface from Presonus, I highly recommend it!

Good USB interface
georgebranekov, 14.04.2020
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
I used this exact same box several years ago so I decided to buy again this one. It is a great buy for the money - a dual channel, OK pre-amps, build quality is great, drivers work flawlessly (tried on Win 7 some time ago, currently running Win 10, no issues - works straight out of the box), it even has MIDI in/out if you want to use it with some MIDI gear, input latency is low (to the point it doesn't really matter). One thing I would have preferred to have is a -20dB pad switch or something of the sort as you need to be careful with line signal, the knobs go only down to -10dB for line input. I had some peaks using some guitar gear, however, if you keep this in mind you can mitigate it quite alright. Some minor bleeds here and there, but nothing deal breaking for me. Good product. Software is also nice to have as a bonus.

I started producing music a while ago, so i had to buy my first equipment. I am very pleased with the product for the price, because you get Studio One 4 (which i find great for beginners like me!). It's simple to install, configure and use!

Good but flawed
Anatoly, 28.10.2018

The inputs are too weak (my mildly hot pickups clip the inputs), and the drivers aren't too good. This is a big disappointment, as i have a 44VSL and i love it.

Compacta i perfecte!
xavicolomer, 09.01.2019
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96

Good first recording interface.
Silverbullet , 21.12.2017
· Assumed from Presonus AudioBox USB 96
Total beginner in home recording. The AudioBox 96 is affordable, easy to set up, and comes with Studio One DAW. Works for me as there is plenty of online help/education, and I'm getting to grips with it nicely. I'm getting good sounds from guitars, bass, and virtual instruments, especially drums. Quality for almost no money - this will get you started in home recording easily. I'm happy with my purchase.
