Compact monitor at a compact price

The Presonus Eris E3.5 is an active monitoring system consisting of a pair of speakers, each equipped with a 3.5" woofer and 1" tweeter. As the smallest member of the extensive Eris series, the E3.5 combines the trademark well-balanced sound with an unbeatably affordable price. Thanks to its compact size, it will easily fit into minimalist audio systems designed for small working environments. Its simple yet effective crossover section allows the basic sound of the Eris E3.5 to easily adapt to different room acoustics, and the Eris E3.5 BT model features additional Bluetooth connectivity.

Same high-quality components as the larger Eris models

The Presonus Eris E3.5 is fitted with a carefully designed and solidly built bass reflex cabinet made of vinyl-laminated MDF. As with all the Eris models, the woofers are made of Kevlar, producing a clean and precise bass response and even diffusion through all the lower frequencies (here from 80 Hz upwards). Similarly, the silk dome tweeter reproduces all the high frequencies in a very natural way and provides a wide sweet spot in the listening position. Each speaker is powered by a 25-watt class AB amplifier, and both amplifiers are located in the left speaker, the front panel of which also features a convenient headphone output.

Ideal for minimalist workstations

The Presonus Eris E3.5 is aimed at anyone looking for a reliable and affordable studio monitor. The speaker's compact dimensions will look great in the minimalist spaces often used by YouTubers and podcasters, or anyone else producing audio and video material at home. The speaker will adapt very easily to the acoustic conditions of these rooms thanks to two shelving filters which respectively handle the bass and treble frequencies (each by +/- 6 dB). For music (or even multimedia) production, we recommend using the Eris E3.5 in combination with an active subwoofer, such as the Temblor T8 from the same manufacturer, in order to properly control the low end of the spectrum.

About Presonus

Presonus is a US company founded in 1995 by Jim Odom and Brian Smith in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. The firm designs hardware and software at both professional and more affordable levels for musicians and producers. Presonus first made a splash in the mid-1990s with the DCP8, an eight-channel analogue compressor/limiter/gate with fader and mute automation that could be digitally controlled by MIDI. In the early 2000s followed a series of microphone amplifiers and the first audio interfaces for the then-emerging home studio scene. Today, the company's product range includes audio interfaces, microphone preamps, digital mixing consoles, and studio monitors as well as the established DAW software Studio One.

Extensive connectivity

The Presonus Eris E3.5 can be connected to the outputs of an audio interface (or subwoofer) via its 6.3 mm balanced jacks. Both inputs are located on the left speaker, itself connected to the right speaker via the provided cable. In addition, the Eris E3.5 features unbalanced RCA inputs, calibrated to -10 dBV, thus allowing home hi-fi equipment, for example, to be connected. Finally, an auxiliary 3.5 jack stereo input, located on the front panel, is also provided to easily connect all kinds of audio players, including smartphones.

Good, but only lasted 3 years
One Man Band 03.08.2021
Pros:

These are indeed a pair of nice casual monitors - it wouldn't be sufficient for all your mixing/mastering needs, but it works fantastically as a pair of tracking monitors or playback speakers for your virtual instruments. They are superb for watching movies at your home studio.

Cons:

However, they only lasted 3 years for me. Strange noise started to appear from one week ago, which sounds like a piece of paper placed directly on top of the speakers that resonates and vibrates with the speakers when they are playing any sound. Then, a couple of days later, a constant high-pitched coil whine appeared, even when no sound is being played back and all the cables disconnected (except the power cable of course).

It seems very strange to me: the monitors look very sturdy, and since I keep them very close to my ears, I have never played any overly loud audio through them. I have in my studio way cheaper and less sturdy-looking gears that have already been used daily for more than 5 years (shoutout to t.bone and Behringer).

Conclusion:

Anyways, this is definitely not your buy-it-for-life kind of product. The guarantee expires after 3 years, so consider it as a 3-year subscription to an entry-level studio speaker that looks nice on your desktop. I am looking into getting a pair of more professional monitors - the Eris will serve you well until you graduate from the entry-level class.

K
Excellent Home Studio Monitors
Kwade 06.01.2022
I did a lot of research online before choosing monitors for a home studio project at the beginning of lockdown. Operating on a show-string budget, as most musicians/engineers tend to be when starting out, I took a chance on one of the cheaper options, based on reviews. I was blown away with the quality at this price point. Not only do they have a clear, flat sound usually found in monitors 2 or 3 times this price, they are surprisingly powerful. I expected little from the low end, but again was very surprised with how defined it was, even getting down to some sub. I bought these almost 2 years ago, and have since upgraded to a larger space and have Kali LP6's for their stereo field, but still love the Eris 3.5 and will continue to use them as reference monitors as I have become so accustomed to their sound. There is very little decision-making to be made on these at this price.

JG
Great monitors considering the price
Jimmi G 26.08.2021
They're great for small spaces and apartments where bigger speakers might be overkill and result in noise complaints from neighbors. There's still plenty of volume for regular listening, and the bass is present without becoming overpowering or leaking through the walls. I like that they come with the same size tweeters as the bigger, more expensive Eris models, resulting in excellent resolution and stereo separation for the price. Sometimes I feel they're slightly harsh and peaky at certain upper mid-range frequencies, but considering the price and compact size, that's forgivable. Also I'm not a fan of the bright blue LED that shines in your eyes when they're powered on, I put a piece of black tape over it.
If you're mixing a lot of bass heavy music, you'll probably want a pair of decent headphones to double-check the bass/sub-bass.

F
Presonus Eris E3.5 are amazing!
Faare 06.08.2021
I just got them today and man, are they amazing or what?!
I immediately noticed a major difference in quality of sound reproduction and I noticed a lot of mistakes in my mixes. :)

Although they are rather small, they are loud as hell - they are perfect for a small home studio or just for listening music in top quality.

Pros: neat size, amazing sound quality, built to last, it has aux and phones inputs, having both balanced and unbalanced inputs is really handy to have, plus it has acoustic treatment feature.

Cons: I really can't find any so far.

Amazing set of speakers for so little money - it's a must have, I don't know how I lived without them for so long!

+ Thomann did great with packing them, kudos!
