Compact monitor at a compact price

The Presonus Eris E3.5 BT is an active monitoring system consisting of a pair of speakers, each equipped with a 3.5" woofer and 1" tweeter. As the smallest member of the extensive Eris series, the E3.5 BT combines the trademark well-balanced sound with an unbeatably affordable price. Thanks to its compact size, it will easily fit into minimalist audio systems designed for small working environments. Its simple yet effective crossover section allows the basic sound of the Eris 3.5 BT to easily adapt to different room acoustics. The BT version of the model shown here features additional Bluetooth connectivity.

Same high-quality components as the larger Eris models

The Presonus Eris E3.5 BT is fitted with a carefully designed and solidly built bass reflex cabinet made of vinyl-laminated MDF. As with all the Eris models, the woofers are made of Kevlar, producing a clean and precise bass response and even diffusion through all the lower frequencies (here from 80 Hz upwards). Similarly, the silk dome tweeter reproduces all the high frequencies in a very natural way and provides a wide sweet spot in the listening position. Each speaker is powered by a 25-watt class AB amplifier, and both amplifiers are located in the left speaker, the front panel of which also features a convenient headphone output.

Ideal for minimalist workstations

The Presonus Eris E3.5 BT is aimed at anyone looking for a reliable and affordable studio monitor. The speaker's compact dimensions will look great in the minimalist spaces often used by YouTubers and podcasters, or anyone else producing audio and video material at home. The speaker will adapt very easily to the acoustic conditions of these rooms thanks to two shelving filters which respectively handle the bass and treble frequencies (each by +/- 6 dB). For music (or even multimedia) production, we recommend using the Eris E3.5 BT in combination with an active subwoofer, such as the Temblor T8 from the same manufacturer, in order to properly control the low end of the spectrum.

About Presonus

Presonus is a US company founded in 1995 by Jim Odom and Brian Smith in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. The firm designs hardware and software at both professional and more affordable levels for musicians and producers. Presonus first made a splash in the mid-1990s with the DCP8, an eight-channel analogue compressor/limiter/gate with fader and mute automation that could be digitally controlled by MIDI. In the early 2000s followed a series of microphone amplifiers and the first audio interfaces for the then-emerging home studio scene. Today, the company's product range includes audio interfaces, microphone preamps, digital mixing consoles, and studio monitors as well as the established DAW software Studio One.

Extensive connectivity

The Presonus Eris E3.5 BT can be connected to the outputs of an audio interface (or subwoofer) via its 6.3 mm balanced jacks. Both inputs are located on the left speaker, itself connected to the right speaker via the provided cable. In addition, the Eris E3.5 BT features unbalanced RCA inputs, calibrated to -10 dBV, thus allowing home hi-fi equipment, for example, to be connected. Finally, as an alternative to the wireless Bluetooth 5 connection, an auxiliary 3.5 mm stereo input, located on the front panel, is also provided to easily connect all kinds of commercial in-line sources, including smartphones.

Good little desktop speakers
røde2nowhere 04.07.2020
Bought these to replace a set of Mackie CR4 speakers, which had been giving trouble from early on. These are slightly smaller, and a lot lighter, but the sound isn't far off. The woofers are 3.5" compared to 4" on the Mackie set, and there is a noticeable difference in the low end, but overall these seem nicely balanced for general use, music, voice, etc.

These are being used as near field speakers on a home desktop for some voice audio and music editing, as well as for music and video playback.

Pros:
- Nice clear highs
- Can get very loud for such small speakers
- Easy bluetooth connectivity
- Headphone, aux, volume and on/off switch all on front for easy access
- Simple/Professional looking
- removable (standard) two pin power connection
- separate adjustable acoustic tuning for lows and highs
- balanced inputs (not present on some other small speakers in this price range)

Cons:
(nothing really, but compared to Mackie CR4)
- no way to set right/left for main powered speaker, which is the left speaker, so not ideal for every setup
- Bass is lacking a little, and I'm starting to think of pairing them with a subwoofer already, something I didn't consider with the CR4s.
- Very small bump on the speaker knob is the only visual indication of its position

Overall, these little speakers will blow away any comparably priced consumer focused desktop multimedia speakers when it comes to sound quality and flexibility of inputs. I believe they are useable in a home studio for editing, especially voice work. No regrets in getting these, so far.

Affordable but cool bluetooth option.
DonSchlup 06.12.2021
After owning the non-bluetooth version of these monitors in my home studio, decided to get a slightly upgraded pair for my home entertainment system. They have the exact same response of the Eris 3.5, and look exactly the same (which is a great look, come on) but the added bluetooth option is quite fun, and works well. The big difference between these and some other speaker options like the Marshall's and such, is really the sound quality above aesthetic. Highly recommend it for a quality product at an entry-level price point.

Might just be best in class.
KTRreview 06.12.2021
Considering the compact size of these, they deliver an incredibly full sound. Obviously you don't get the deep bass but that's to be expected.
The important part is that the sound is true and clear and the bluetooth functionality works seemlessly.
Easy 5/5 since it does everything it promises with zero issues

n
more than expected

The clarity, the bass and the overall loudness are too good to be true eventhough it's only 3.5". But the range of bluetooth is a little short, around 3 meters.
