Compact monitor for a compact budget

The Presonus Eris E4.5 BT is an active monitoring system, consisting of a pair of speakers, each equipped with a 4.5" woofer and 1" tweeter. This model bridges the gap between the ultra-compact Eris E3.5 and the larger and more extensively equipped Eris E5 (and Eris E5 XT). Like the rest of the range, the Eris E4.5 BT is a well-balanced and natural-sounding monitor, especially given its price. Dedicated filters allow the basic sound of the Eris E4.5 BT to be easily adapted to different room acoustics. The BT version of the model shown here features additional Bluetooth connectivity.

Same high-quality components as the larger Eris models

The Presonus Eris E4.5 BT is fitted with a carefully designed and solidly built bass reflex cabinet made of vinyl-laminated MDF. As with all the Eris models, the woofers are made of Kevlar, producing a clean and precise bass response and even diffusion through all the lower frequencies (here from 70 Hz upwards). Similarly, the silk dome tweeter reproduces all the high frequencies in a very natural way and provides a wide sweet spot in the listening position. Each speaker is powered by a 25-watt class AB amplifier, and both amplifiers are located in the left speaker, the front panel of which also features a convenient headphone output.

Ideal for minimalist workstations

The Presonus Eris E4.5 BT is aimed at anyone looking for a reliable and affordable studio monitor. The speaker's compact dimensions will look great in the minimalist spaces often used by YouTubers and podcasters, or anyone else producing audio and video material at home. The speaker will adapt very easily to the acoustic conditions of these rooms thanks to two shelving filters which respectively handle the bass and treble frequencies (each by +/- 6 dB). For music (or even multimedia) production, we recommend using the Eris E4.5 BT in combination with an active subwoofer, such as the Temblor T8 from the same manufacturer, in order to properly control the low end of the spectrum.

About Presonus

Presonus is a US company founded in 1995 by Jim Odom and Brian Smith in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. The firm designs hardware and software at both professional and more affordable levels for musicians and producers. Presonus first made a splash in the mid-1990s with the DCP8, an eight-channel analogue compressor/limiter/gate with fader and mute automation that could be digitally controlled by MIDI. In the early 2000s followed a series of microphone amplifiers and the first audio interfaces for the then-emerging home studio scene. Today, the company's product range includes audio interfaces, microphone preamps, digital mixing consoles, and studio monitors as well as the established DAW software Studio One.

Extensive connectivity

The Presonus Eris E4.5 BT can be connected to the outputs of an audio interface (or subwoofer) via its 6.3 mm balanced jacks. Both inputs are located on the left speaker, itself connected to the right speaker via the provided cable. In addition, the Eris E4.5 BT features unbalanced RCA inputs, calibrated to -10 dBV, thus allowing home hi-fi equipment, for example, to be connected. Finally, as an alternative to the wireless Bluetooth 5 connection, an auxiliary 3.5 mm stereo input, located on the front panel, is also provided to easily connect all kinds of commercial in-line sources, including smartphones.

White Noise and Electronic Interference
PatTheCat92 08.02.2021
I was eagerly awaiting these and patiently waited the extra week of delivery time due to Brexit only for them to arrive and be immediately disappointed. The white noise on these is unbearable, imagine someone has started playing a white noise sleep track, this is what these will provide for you, with no additional fee!

Next lets connect the Bluetooth, and wow, it's gets worse. I don't know what chocolate bar wrapper they used for the shielding but I would suggest they use a different material in the future. It's a cross between dial up noises and popping. Deal breaker considering I paid extra for the Bluetooth version, and you know... I would like to use that feature.

Now when you have your music loud enough to drown out the above background noise, these do sound good. I would have been over the moon if it wasn't for the fact that I would slowly be driven to madness by the static noise. I'm just glad that I tested these before setting them into position and have all the packaging as they are going straight back.

Great speakers for this price.

I use these speakers as my "mini hi fi" system. The second part is the LG V30 smartphone (it has the Saber ES 9018). I planned to connect it mainly via Bluetooth, now I can see that it sounds much better with the cable (minijack to RCA). Open sound, precision, dynamics, natural timbre of voices. I mainly listen to jazz, classical rock, but also Monteverdi, Bach and Beethoven. And I can safely take them to the other room: D
Best offer!

i bought hem as companion for a MacMini with Garageband. very easy to install. They look very good, good material quality, and in general well build.
And most importantly they have a marvellous sound. nice and clear with plenty of bass.
the bluetooth function is a nice extra to play some music from my iphone.

this pair of media reference/home studio speakers are perfect for the bedroom or any living space. Great for playing tunes and songs via the amazing bluetooth function, but also as good at home in the studio. Nice bass, good mids and highs.
