N
The go-to reed for Jazz, pop and commercial work
Nibmusic 13.11.2021
I've been using La Voz for over 40 years on all saxes - there's a reason why some of the greats - Brecker, Sanborn, Albright etc use these - because there's no other that gives the rich full sound we all love! Yeah, sure, they are very inconsistent (certainly by todays standards!) but after having tried most of the competition, I always come back to a good La Voz - it's all about the sound - and these are the only reeds that really have it. They do take a bit of prepping - 5 minute play only on first use, gradually build up and light sanding (wet & dry) to take off the raised fibres - but if you treat them well they will keep for up to a month!

J
Woody and resistant
James573 28.12.2014
I find these a good match for my Meyer mouthpiece, best with a smallish tip opening such as 5 or 6 because of the thickness of the reed. With one of these mouthpieces I find the tonal balance is just what I am looking for for a jazzy sound. I find vandoren java reeds very good but la voz are slightly less bright , more resistant and have more body to the tone. Because of the resistance a reed of this strength is not for a beginner, and can take some getting used to. Also try the medium strength for a slightly easier blow without losing too much body to the tone

Super Sound - aber...
D-7 20.11.2016
