Tut was es soll

Great sound for resonable price
I have never been disappointed with products from Røde. I am using this mic for several productions, but mostly within short films. If you have longer distance that a Røde NTG3 would be useful fore. Then I take this mic in action.
The only thing I don?t like is the mic is so long. It is dfficult to use on a boom. But a great compromise when you compare the outcome of the sound quality.
I would highly recommend this mic for outdoor use only.

Great for the price
the Rode ntg8 has a magnificent construction. it is durable and sturdy. It comes with a tropicalized metal case.
The sound quality is typical Rode, it's fine for normal, female voices but you may encounter some problems in case of particularly deep male voices, very very deep eh!
Obviously being a long shotgun, you can not expect to use it indoors, but in exceptional cases, with environments without reverb yes. It happened to me in some occasions and the result was good.
Would I buy it again? I don't know: it's for those rare occasions when you're really far away or to focus on certain voices compared to the rest.
I'd say it's specialized, if I had to choose a more generic product I'd turn to Rode's brother ntg3 or the new ntg5 (but I don't know it personally) or other brands.
