These aluminium plates looks very tidy

Not quite as well finished as I would have liked, but after filing a couple of bits of sharp metal flash off they fitted nicely.

I really think that Roland should include some replacement screws with these plates because:
a) Black screws do not look so good against the silver plate.
b) The existing screws do not go flush to the plate.
c) The existing screws are a little short once the plates are in place.

The System 8 is not a cheap keyboard, but it has an essentially 'home keyboard' case. For the money, the least Roland could do is include these aluminium end-plates for free.

In conclusion, a bit overpriced, and not to Roland's once excellent manufacturing standard, but still worth having, because they finish off the System 8's looks nicely.

Really makes a difference to the System-8's aesthetics

I'm not entirely sure why Roland didn't just ship the System-8 with these already installed as it makes a massive difference to the aesthetic of the instrument. It finishes it off perfectly and makes it "feel" professional.

Yes, they're quite expensive for what they are but in my opinion they are completely worth it for how they make the System-8 feel much more substantial and less "plastic-y".

I would buy these again.

If you have already decided your System-8 is a "keeper" ... then just buy it ... that simple .

Jupiter-8 Feeling

Ich wollte schon immer einen orignalen Roland Jupiter8, seitdem ich 1983 mit 14 Jahren auf einem solchen im Musikgeschäft spielen durfte. Obwohl ich schon so ziemlich jeden Synth mal besessen habe, konnte ich mir diesen Wunsch bisher nicht erfüllen.
Mit den Aluminium Seitenteilen RSP-8A sieht mein SYSTEM-8 aber schon sehr wie ein originaler Jupiter-8 aus.
Die Seitenteile sind nicht nur schön (aus gebürstetem Aluminium), sondern auch kinlerleicht montiert, da sie symmetrisch konstruiert sind, d.h. man kann Links und Rechts nicht verwechseln.
Ausserdem hat das SYSTEM-8 dadurch einen wunderbaren Stoß- bzw. Kantenschutz,
