Works perfectly for me.
Had some Rode mics in the past and decided to make an upgrade and I dont regret it, totally worth it.
Only feedback I have is that it works with a battery that lasts for over a year and that you sometimes forget to turn it on or off due to the absence of LED.
But would still recommend it 100% of the time :)

Ist es ein Sennheiser? - Ich glaube nein.

Das Mikro sollte primär als Backup für Interviewaufnahmen eingesetzt werden, also habe ich Folgendes getestet: Abspielen einer existierenden Interviewaufnahme über meine Monitorlautsprecher, leicht unterhalb Zimmerlautstärke. Sennheiser MKE 400 an ein Olympus LS-5 angeschlossen, Aufnahmeposition in ca. 2-4 Metern Entfernung eingenommen und via In-Ears abgehört. Ergebnis: Das Sennheiser MKE 400 klang enorm blechern und insgesamt wesentlich schlechter als die eingebauten Mikros des Olympus LS-5. Überraschend war auch, dass der seitlich einfallende Sound deutlich hörbar ist, obwohl es sich um eine Superniere handeln soll.

Die ziemlich unterirdische Bedienlogik tut ihr Übriges. Ein batteriebetriebenes Gerät ohne Betriebs-LED ist einfach ungünstig, weil es nahezu sicher ist, dass man vergisst, das Ding auszuschalten. Und dass sich der Schalter zur Windgeräuschunterdrückung in der Mittelposition zwischen "An" und "Aus" befindet (übrigens ein fummeliger Schalter), ist ebenfalls suboptimal.

Die gesamte Verarbeitung wirkt zudem nicht Sennheiser-like (ich besitze z. B. ein e835, ein AVX-Kit, einen HD650 und einen HD25 aus selbem Hause, alles viel besser verarbeitet), insbesondere die Blitzschuh-Halterung/Entkoppelung und die Schalter. Ach ja, und es gibt keine Tasche im Lieferumfang. War also leider nichts.

Genau das richtige Mikro für DSLR-Filmer

Als Besitzer einer 550D war bereits vor dem Kauf klar, dass der Ton über externes Mikrofon aufgezeichnet werden muss. Damals gab es nur drei Kandidaten: MKE 400 von Sennheiser, Rode StereoVideo-Mic und das Rode VideoMic Mono. Auch wenn das Sennheiser das teuerste der drei war, hat mich vor allem die Größe von Anfang an angesprochen. Ist das Mikro auf der Kamera zu groß, wird man des Öfteren als professioneller Filmer assoziiert. Keine gute Sache, da man sich dann Fragen über die Bildrechte anhören darf. Klein ist also fein.

Auch wenn viele - unerfahrene - Filmer, den Begriff Mono eher mit alter Technik verbinden, weiß man, dass gute Sprachaufnahmen "aus der Ferne" nur mit einem Mono-Mikrofon mit mindestens einer Nierencharakteristik gelingen. Das Sennheiser ist mit seiner Supernierencharakteristik also super dafür geeignet. Was man filmt, hört man auch und zwar glasklar - so muss es sein. Die Stromversorgung über die AAA-Batterie hält sehr lange, außerdem kann man überall schnell eine neue Batterie nachkaufen. Ebenfalls gut gelöst: Das Mikro ist von der Kamera gut entkoppelt.
Der einzige winzige Minuspunkt: Der Windschutz ist den Namen nicht wert, für Outdooreinsätze braucht man eine Deadcat.

Insgesamt bin ich mit dem MKE 400 sehr zufrieden.

Je l'utilise en reportage quand je ne peux pas utiliser la perche ou que je ne veux pas alourdir la caméra. Il est très polyvalent et sonne plutôt très bien pour le prix. Franchement bien, mais penser à prendre son "deadcat".
